It appears there is internet news coming out that Oregon St just hired away Ryan Gunderson, the Bruin Offensive Coordinator. So now that's the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator, within only a couple of days after Martin Jarmond expressed 100% confidence in the Chipster (OG). Now this guy is no loss at all since Dante Moore alluded to the fact, he had nobody coaching him. In addition, based on UCLA's offensive (and indeed it can be described as offensive) performance this season, I'd definitely say good riddance to this guy, but of course I don't think this guy called the plays, I think the Chipster (OG) had that honor. He will not coach in the bowl game, along with Lynn who will also not coach in the bowl game.
With Oregon State stuck in conference limbo and every other PAC 12 school, save Wazzu, headed to major conferences, you can't tell me the word wasn't on the street that Jonathan Smith wasn't quietly on the market. Asleep at the wheel? A long time ago we got pretty good coach named Prothro from the Beavers! Where was J D Morgan when we needed him! This is worse than losing your first time, one-year DC to the crosstown brats!
Hey War Planner, why don't we step in and coach in the LA Toilet Bowl? Can't do any worse than the Chipster!
Dallas! It's be my honor to work the sidelines with you. Hell, in my case, I will coach for food! In the USAF, I coached 3902dn Support to three consecutive second place finishes in our flag football league. -- so then there's that! You call the 4-2-5 trap* or the 35 blast and I'll wig-wag the signals in to whomever is playing QB.
*The play that Prothro had Norm Dow run. It was a handoff to Cornell Champion that scored the second (winning) TD over SC in 1966, 14-7.
Most likely not and it was too late to add the Cal game! But this further illustrates that the football program will need to be completely gutted and rebuilt from scratch as the Chipster (OG) has completely and utterly destroyed it and there is nothing even redeemable at this point. I really cannot see them beating Boise St in the Toilet Bowl, but again as we saw with SUC, miracles do sometimes seem to popup for the Chipster (OG).
Oh no, he has to be replaced. That shouldn't even be a question at this point. These two have single-handedly imploded the Athletic Dept. Even women's softball has been negatively impacted. No, he should have been fired as soon as he made the decision to retain the Chipster (OG). Blockhead is still there, and he should have simply said, "your gone", but Blockhead doesn't care about Athletics, he really never has. So, to him, it's just another "calculated move" by his AD. There is no accountability there because again Blockhead would care less about Athletics.
Don't forget about that trajectory of the program. Good ole Martin "Jarhead" (Non-Marine definition) Jarmond is always looking at the Trajectory of all his sports programs. Now that this Trajectory for almost every program Jarhead (Non-Marine definition) manages is down, I'm not sure what Jarhead (Non-Marine definition) does next.
Jarmond is a joke. After reading Plaschke’s column , it left me wondering if there is anything between the Jarmond’s ears. I believe the job at Ucla is to big for his capabilities.
What exactly did you want him to do? Fire Chip and replace him with a mediocre and/or unproven candidate and potentially stonewall this program for the next 3-4 years? It would be nice if we could have gone out and hired an elite coach but we simply DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY that we will 12 months from now.

Ha! We can pull out of mothballs our old leather, open-face helmets to inspire the boys!
Gunderson must not have had the ASU game on his resume!

When this all said and done, Jarmond may need to be replaced too.
