The Pac-12 needs to get its act together and come up with a date to start back up. It seems to me when the other 3 conferences decided to play the Pac-12 should have been getting things ready for a possible start day before January just in case. The Big Ten did it. But the Pac-12 just seems last at everything. But it is good news that we are getting closer to playing football.
The Pac 12 has really crapped the bed in front of the entire nation. We are the laughing stock of the entire nation. Literally everyone is playing football except for the Big Ten and Pac 12, and the Big Ten is about to get started. There's absolutely no excuse for this. The rest of the country has been playing for weeks. Many high schools have been playing for MONTHS. The Pac 12 looks like fools. This has set the conference back 10 years. Even the talk radio hosts who were playing it safe with the safety first oh we have to put the student athletes health above all else crowd are now saying uhhhhhh ok this looks really bad. The Pac 12 has always been the laughing stock of the nation, but now it's front and center.
Time for a new commish. The Pac-12 is at the center of almost every scandal. The FBI recruiting scandal, the college admission scandal. We are 2nd tier in regards to the College Football playoffs and NCAA final four. Last Basketball Champion was more than 20 years ago. Last Football champion had to be vacated and that was almost 20 years ago.
The Pac 12 "has always been the laughing stock of the nation" is a bit over the top. It definitely took a giant step backwards with Larry Scott but we used to be one of the top conferences in the nation. With the 2 new AD's (UCLA & u$c) hopefully Larry Scott will be ousted.
let me clarify. of the power 5 schools. but it really is the laughing stock of the nation because the pac 12 should be elite. The fact that it has not been for quite some time is an embarassment.
I'm not sure it's a laughing stock as much as it's an afterthought. I don't see anyone laughing because I don't see anyone paying much attention in the first place. Either way, it's an embarrassment for sure, and certainly reflects on the failure of leadership.
People in other conferences judge the Pac-12 as a step below the others. The ACC is a better basketball conference. The Big Ten and Big 12 probably are also. The most consistent basketball program on the west coast is Gonzaga. In football the SEC, Big Ten and Big 12 are better than the Pac-12. You can go back to the 1960's and 1970's and this conference was as good as another or better. But the last 25 years or so there has been a steady decline. Only thing we lead in is getting caught violating the rules. We cheat and still do not end up on top. And now with the pandemic we are the slowest to come back.
