2023 NCAA March Madness Selection Sunday: How to Watch and Stream
The UCLA Bruins men's and women's basketball teams will find out who they are playing and where they will be playing when the tournament fields are announced today.
Before getting into the details of today’s Selection Show, there apparently was an incident after
Mick Cronin abruptly ended UCLA’s postgame press conference when he was told about an incident involving his dad after the game.
LA Times beat writer Ben Bolch tweeted that UCLA AD Martin Jarmond was in touch with conference officials as a result.
But, nothing new has been revealed today about what happened.
Regardless, it would be typical of the Arizona fan base if the reports are true.
To be sure, last night’s loss to the Wildcats was certainly disappointing but, now, the real tournament can begin.
This afternoon, the UCLA Bruins will find out where they are seeded and where they will be playing in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament this afternoon.
The biggest questions after last night are: Will the Bruins be able to earn a number one seed and will they be playing in the West?
According to the latest NET rankings, UCLA is third. That should be enough to get the Bruins one of the top four seeds, but the Selection Committee does have a history of screwing UCLA. So, we’ll see what happens.
This year’s first and second round games will be played in eight cities. Those cities are Birmingham, AL; Des Moines, IA; Orlando, FL; Sacramento, CA; Albany, NY; Columbus, OH; Denver, CO; and Greensboro, NC. The Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds will be played in Las Vegas, NV; New York, NY; Kansas City, MO; and Louisville, KY. This year’s Final Four will be played in Houston.
Traditionally, the NCAA has announced the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament on Monday evenings. This year, the women’s bracket will again be announced this evening. The women’s field will again be 68 teams this year for the second year.
It looks like the UCLA women’s basketball team will return to this year’s tournament after an uncharacteristic mediocre season last season. The team has a 25-9 record after losing to Washington State in the Pac-12 Tournament Championship game. This year’s team was ranked 17th most recently. So, they should get a good seeding. It may not be as good as the men, but a good one nonetheless.

I really believe Tony Padilla went into last night’s game looking to influence the outcome of the game. Outside of the Amari offensive foul, some of the other calls and no calls from him and his crew were headscratchers.
One good thing coming out of last nights officiating catastrophe was that college basketball reporters nationwide immediately pounced on the bad officiating and broadcast it and published clips on social media.
I didn’t think they were going to give us a 1 seed even if we won the Pac-12 tournament. It was clear from the initial selection a few weeks ago that their image of UCLA was based on something other than stats and performance. I think we’re in a tough bracket, but it’s really wide open this year. Just have to play one game at a time. Losing Clark means the reality is our chances of having an off day are greater, but I believe we have the opportunity to go all the way. Not predicting a Natty, but it’s achievable. Would be surprised and disappointed if we’re not playing in the second weekend, would be a little surprised but immensely happy to be playing in the third weekend.
