Pump the brakes. Let’s see how the rest of the season goes.

It’s nice, but what if we go on to lose 3 or 4+ to Utah, Oregon, sc, Cal, and our bowl game? That wouldn’t be much of a change from last season. Add Chip’s poor HS recruiting and high transfer rate.

If we’re undefeated after sc, then Chip will really have proven something. Being undefeated after Oregon would be great. It wouldn’t mean nearly as much, if we then get embarrassed in a huge loss to sc.

I would hope our team’s aspirations are to win the PAC/Big 10 title, to beat sc, to receive a playoff spot, and one day win another national championship. Chip has only once completed one of those things. That was from sc being a total embarrassment. Let’s make sure Chip is the right guy, before we lock ourselves to another 3-5 years with him.

Let's see how the rest of the night goes. This is Pac 12 after dark. We've all seen crazy things happen.

Get him the ball. Every. Single. Down

gbruin's avatar

Of course the previous game is going to OT and potentially delaying our coverage, and I blame that noted Bruin hater Beth Mowins who is doing the play by play.

BruinMom17's avatar

Ahhh Beth such a gem...

gbruin's avatar

Tulane does us a favor and wins in the first OT. BSPN takes advantage by getting all excited about tomorrow's SEC games instead of previewing the 2 undefeated west coast teams they are televising in 5 minutes.

ArmyBruin's avatar

Well, can our Bruins defend? Tonight will tell.

gbruin's avatar

Yeah, I think that's the key matchup tonight. Not sure our pass D can handle Penix, but we'll see.

BigBruinfan's avatar

Beth Mowins OMG the Female Harry Carry of college football I just can listen to her no matter whose playing

BruinMom17's avatar

Absolutely hilarious!!

gbruin's avatar

TFL on play #1 for our D. Nice start!

kingjim1954's avatar

I sense a bad night, friend bruins. I'm on the wrong coast and will hang in as long as I can and my beer holds out.

BigBruinfan's avatar

Defense is looking a bit holy

gbruin's avatar

Geez, burned deep on a 4th and 6 for a TD. Not a promising series.

ArmyBruin's avatar

Typical crap defense on 3rd or 4th down.

BigBruinfan's avatar

Well that was disappointing

E2148's avatar

Oof. Kirkwood just got beat.

Jeffro_TBS's avatar

I was about to write something nice about the D, but damn

gbruin's avatar

Big return plus 15 more. Nice

ArmyBruin's avatar

Choke in tve red zone

gbruin's avatar

Man I hate those 2nd and 3rd down play calls. Give the ball to Charbonet on the goalline

BruinMom17's avatar

Our household agreed with that assessment!

"the metrics say go for it." means it's probably a bad idea.

E2148's avatar

Pass protection not looking good at all

gbruin's avatar

Dammit. Our best offensive player didn't touch the ball after 1st down

Jeffro_TBS's avatar

Shit, UW with the lead, the ball, and momentum

W412's avatar

Anyone that wants to defend DTR, please explain him staring down the left side of the field, the whole play? 😖

ArmyBruin's avatar

Which play? He hasn’t had time to stare. Shitty play calls. He was backing up on 3rd and 4th down.

Jeffro_TBS's avatar

Yeah, DTR is DTR. The issue here was that there wasn’t confidence in the OLine such that we could pound it in.

W412's avatar

4th. Rewatch it on the replay. His eyes didn’t shift the whole play.

E2148's avatar

Probably because he was getting blitzed by the LB that Habermehl whiffed on

W412's avatar

He still had time to scan the field and try to find an open receiver. FIFTH YEAR! If he was a first or second year, that’s more understandable.

BruinMom17's avatar

Holy poop! A safety!

W412's avatar

Yay for safety. Boo for no TD, last drive.

ArmyBruin's avatar

Well 2 instead of 3 and getting the ball back.

W412's avatar

Yeah, but it should be 7 if not for the tripping, or if we played a better 4th down. We need a TD here to help out our D.

E2148's avatar

This is gonna be a weird one, isn’t it?

gbruin's avatar

What a horrible play on their free kick. Geez.

Uclastepup's avatar

This is a great barometer game. The next 3 upcoming games mean a lot to UCLA. Ahead there is Utah and Oregon after this game. I would’ve taken the points and attempted the field goal, but the Chipper will Chip. Great safety. Let’s Go!!

gbruin's avatar

DTR has been great with the straight drops when he has time.

W412's avatar

Yeah. It’s a positive sign when good DTR shows up.

gbruin's avatar

I thought our guy got hit in the earhole

W412's avatar

Luckily the shoulder.

gbruin's avatar

Yeah. That's clean hit.

gbruin's avatar

It looks the defender's shoulder on the replay

ArmyBruin's avatar

Gee, give 24 the ball. What a concept!

gbruin's avatar

There ya go!!! Touchdown, Bruins!!!

BigBruinfan's avatar

Breathing normally again

Uclastepup's avatar

All that power, Charbonett is something special.

E2148's avatar

Good! Smart call to feed the future NFL back within the 5 instead of getting cute. Now let’s get a stop

Jeffro_TBS's avatar

I don’t mind jumping the snap so much as it’s being aggressive, but lining up offside is dumb

ArmyBruin's avatar

Trying to be aggressive. A little too anxious.

ArmyBruin's avatar

Bruins dialing up a lot of blitzes

E2148's avatar

Washington running the USA game plan.

E2148's avatar

South Alabama. Throw it to the edges as UCLA tries to get pressure up the middle every down

Uclastepup's avatar

Cornerbacks need to play a bit closer to the receivers. Overall the defensive game plan hasn’t been too bad. Fingers crossed
