UCLA Football Will Face Boise State in 2023 LA Bowl
The Bruins will get to stay home and play in SoFi Stadium against the Broncos.
The UCLA Bruins won’t have to travel far for this year’s bowl game. The Bruins will face the Mountain West Conference champion Boise State Broncos for just the second time ever in the 2023 LA Bowl on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm PT and the game will air on ABC.
This will be the first time UCLA has played in the LA Bowl.
The last time UCLA faced Boise State Bruin running backs coach DeShaun Foster ran for 55 yards on 17 carries as the Bruins beat the Broncos, 38-7. The game was over by halftime as the Bruins jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead behind quarterback Drew Bennett. Cory Paus made his debut in the game as a true freshman. The game is notable because UCLA played it without 11 players who had been suspended due to the handicapped parking scandal that hit the program that year.
The Bruins enter this game with lots of questions marks, most notably who will serve as the team’s interim defensive coordinator following D’Anton Lynn’s departure for U$c and who will play quarterback in the event that Ethan Garbers is unable to play following the injury he suffered in the game against UC Berkeley after freshman quarterback Dante Moore announced that he is entering the transfer portal earlier this week.
Well, at least travel issues won’t be the reason Bruin fans don’t show up for this game. Of course, there are still all the issues associated with Chip Kelly remaining as head coach as to why UCLA fans may choose to stay home instead.
Go Bruins!

Wow, what a matchup. Forget the final-4, this is the "BIG GAME"!! LOL. The "experts" are already saying this is really good for UCLA, it will be like a home game for them! LOL Anyone taking bets on how many Boise St. fans will be in attendance in this game vs. UCLA fans? (Boise St travels exceptionally well). Other than the excitement of who has more fans in the stands and the Chipster's (OG) play calling (just how bad will it be), this one will be another low level, mediocre bowl game that most people will tune out.
With a very good assistant coach and players already announcing they are leaving the team through the transfer portal can UCLA field a team on December 16th? Talk about no momentum going into the Big 10 next year. Jarmond has made UCLA football the laughing stock of college football. If he's waiting for Ohio State to call him to replace their departing athletic director it's a pipe dream. Re Jarmond: time to chant "Left, Right, Left, Right, Staaaaanding, Sit Down". Concluding with "So Long, Chief".
