Pretty fair write-up. Holmes definitely doesn't have a chance to play outside but his footwork issues, which I think was the main reason he was inconsistent, should be a fairly easy fix.

Knowing Holmes' personality and the confidence he has, it seems fair to assume that he never felt he had to hone his footwork or technique, and felt he could just rely on his speed and athleticism. And a lot of the time, it worked. But he's got no shot of doing that against NFL athletes so I think as long as he is mentally willing to commit to playing with proper technique he'll be successful in the nickel.

I left it out for some reason, but I think his mental game and work ethic are a strength here as well. He actually graduated in 3 years, and one of the big takeaways for him from the Combine was how hard-working he was, so I think with proper coaching and a move to the inside, he has a good shot at finding success.

Work ethic, for sure. Depends on what you mean by mental game. I think he's got the right mindset to play the position but there are anticipation/recognition issues there too.

That's good news, because Holmes is yet another example of a player with good ability coming out of high school who succeeded largely due to his innate talent but who never developed into a top prospect coming out of college. U.C.L.A. football is filled with these stories.
