We need a coach that can recruit and coach Defense. Any chance we can clone Mick Cronin?

They didn't fall enough but next week's loss will move them completely out. They didn't deserve to be there in the first place. Not a good team. The dilemma is, since I'm pretty sure they are going to lose to the Trogans, should I hope for a blowout like 52-14 so the UCLA Admin finally opens both eyes and fires Chip Kelly or should I hope for a closer game in which they may keep Kelly for another year at least. Since next year will be bad no matter who the coach is (mainly due to the pathetic recruiting record Kelly has accumulated) and the following year we move to the Big-10, I am leaning towards the blowout.

There's no way UCLA will fire Chip after this season. He's benefitted from the weak schedule and the wins over Washington and Utah.

All of that masks the deficiencies when it comes to defense and recruiting.

Oh, completely agree, they wouldn't fire Chip even if he had lost to Utah and Washington. But this school has setup a pattern now. If you are a crappy coach with a crappy overall record and lose to USC (when it counts) and you lose badly, even if it doesn't count, typically and just by viewing this historical pattern, you are gone. Did you watch him talk to the press this morning?

Just completely clueless, same old answers -- "the other team made better plays" "We can't do much if the other QB is scrambling, our defensive schemes are solid". The chances of UCLA beating USC this week are practically at 0%, SC is going to absolutely obliterate UCLA's already horrible defense. Caleb Williams loves to "scramble". UCLA will score because SC's defense isn't anything to write home about either, but they are still far superior to UCLA's defense. If UCLA loses badly, which is entirely possible (all they need to do is play exactly like they did against Arizona). I think the AD and Chancellor take another good look at Rose Bowl Attendance over the "Kelly years", Kelly's overall record, Kelly's lack of recruiting, Kelly's ridiculous pressers where he talks like he knows everything but knows nothing and even those two will say "enough is enough" (As unbelievable as that may seem). It's just too much baggage. Money still talks in this sport, and if you can't put butts in the seats and you don't even have enough to cover expenses, which has been UCLA's situation now during ALL of the Kelly years, they will make the move. Remember there were quite a few people saying the same thing about Mora and all that took was the "fat cat" donors (or actually donor) to say, let's move on. I'm not sure if they are involved this time or not. It doesn't look like any are this time around (I think they gave up), but when you are over $100m in debt, you need to do something drastically different and yes you get that huge Big-10 pay day, but in this day and age of higher costs, that pay day will soon be gone and you are still left with a very expensive football program that is only producing embarrassment for a great school. Not ideal.

The Bruins have been fortunate to have 5 games on their PAC 12 schedule that are teams that have lost more than they have won. Add a weak early out of conference schedule and bingo. It is what it is. Looking at current recruiting not looking forward to the next couple of years. Add Pac 12 games at 7:30 at night sucks. There is nothing relevant about UCLA football. I quit watching after the Oregon debacle. I have high personal standards on my work ethic. Wish Chip could do the same thing.

I would never root for an $C route of our Bruins.

But he and his agent are pretty sharp to be able to cash in on the Chip Is An Offensive Coaching Genius hoax.

Can’t believe there are people here not only rooting for SC to win but for them to blow out our Bruins. Don’t know how you can call yourself real fans with that attitude. Especially when it comes to SC!

Let's be realistic. The only way Chip is gone after this season is if he leaves on his own.

Let's be realistic. Currently, Chip sits at .491. IF he wins out against $C and Cal, then his W-L record at UCLA after 5 years will be a solid 28-27 for .527. Some look at this and say, "Progress!" I say that the best move Chip could make to ensure that he becomes the next OC at Alabama (per DD) is to leave on his own before the reality of next season's roster hits.

Let's be realistic. Currently, Chip is vastly exceeding expectations for this season and had us in the hunt for the College football playoff in early November. He ain't going anywhere. If anything, he's getting an extension.

I have always been calling for Chip's head, and welcome his firing ASAP.

BUT fuck $UC! I will always root for their loss, no matter who plays them. Nothing would make me root for a Trogan win!

LMAO. Losing to Arizona is exceeding expectations?

Outside shot at the conf. championship game if my calculations are correct. We would need to beat USC and Cal and have Utah lose to Oregon, or Oregon lose to both Utah and OSU. We would hold tie breakers against Utah and USC. Maybe not such an outside shot. I think we all would have taken this 4 months ago.

4th best in Conference, a home loss as a 20 point favorite, a projected Holiday Bowl, possibly not meeting the expected 10-2 pre-season projections, and not having one's fate in one's own hands per your analysis (just to name a few) hardly exhibit"vastly exceeding expectations." However, I do agree that 'he ain't going anywhere."

Hmmm..... every Trojan fan I've talked to thinks the Bruins will win. Why? USC's defense is horrific. Charbonnet will rush for 150+ yards.
