Just my opinion, but I see him as a retread who doesn't have the credentials of some of the other candidates that I think would be superior. I feel like if we hired him, 5 years from now we would be looking for another coach after a disappointing run.
49 is kind of young to be considered a retread. He's done nothing but win as a head coach. This is his 5th year as a HC, i'm not sure how its possible to consider him a retread.
He was 16-21 at Arizona with 1 winning season out of 3. Then he's gone 13-10 at Washington with 1 winning season and 1 losing season. He's bounced around a lot and never had 2 consecutive winning seasons, and he never stays long. He's too much like Jim Mora for me. He might have a decent season his 3rd year at UCLA and then by year 5 we would be looking for a new coach and he would be moving on. There are other much better candidates.
Money, and trying to prove yourself. Apparently Indiana was one of the worst Power 5 teams ever before Curt Cignetti took over, and he has shown that he is an elite coach
Were we embarrassed? What did anyone expect out of this game? 48-10 seems to be par for the course for anyone facing ohio state this year. Especially with Nico out , I was just happy to not get shutout
Well, at least the Bruins didn't lose as badly to the #1 team in the country (48-10) as they did against #2 Indiana (56-6)... :-)
But a dumpster fire is still a dumpster fire. The UCLA football program still awaits the hiring of yet another new HC who will try to bring success in spite of the incompetence and dysfunction that persists within the UCLA administration. Such a toxic environment can make the HC job opening at UCLA less appealing to any highly competent and promising candidates out there, but perhaps a huge salary with favorable buyout terms are enough to persuade any desirable new hire to accept the challenge. The next HC also knows they'll have to somehow expand NIL funding capability while competing against local rival U$C for recruits and transfers. In any case, the HC search committee has to get it right this time and not rely just on familiarity, past ties to UCLA, and/or HCs promising 6-8 win seasons to preserve mediocrity and jelly donuts. Still hoping/dreaming that a new AD is in the works (firing with cause), maybe in conjunction with announcing the hiring of a new HC? Otherwise, there's apparently not enough high voltage to shock Frenkenstein into taking any action and we'll just have to suffer and wait for him to retire and/or when the jelly donut AD contract finally ends (6/30/2029). Ugh!
You heard it here first: In head coach consideration, Fisch is third in line behind candidate #1 Tony White (Aikman, Arbuckle, McKnown, and Ogden all lobbying for TW) and #2 Tommy Rees.
As much as I'll miss the best tailgate spot in the Nation, SoFi would be a BOON to recruiting; the kids see it on TV almost every stinking weekend....
I do not believe for one second SoFi would be a BOON for anyone. The Rose Bowl is iconic. Kids dream of playing in it. SoFI is lifeless, soulless and in the heart of gangs. Inglewood is a hole.
What would be a far bigger *boon* to recruiting would be to take the $80-100 million we'd be essentially lighting on fire to settle with Pasadena and investing most or all of it in NIL to compete for 5* and established O-linemen and D-linemen - ask Texas Tech
You don't get it, the score was gonna be what ever Ohio State wanted it to be. I give credit to Ryan Day for keeping it classy and not putting up 70+. The boys weren't unprepared, they weren't being outcoached. UCLA simply didn't have the physical talent on either side of the ball to beat Ohio State. As bad as it looked the kids actually competed until the end, they just weren't good enough to be competitive. I've seen and been on the field when teams have quit and that didn't happen last night which is a credit to Skipper and Co. Hopefully, there's a clean sweep at the end of the season, from the AD, to the coaching staff even the landscaping crew, and, UCLA could finally start taking football seriously.
Undermanned is the most accurate statement. I think if the OSU and UCLA staffs switched teams, Tim Skipper’s Buckeyes would easily defeat Ryan Day’s Bruins. The season is coming to a close. It’s now time for Women’s Hoops!
Is it safe to say Fisch is the frontrunner?
I'll go on record saying that would be a big mistake.
Why?

That's ok, we just have a different opinion.

No
Fisch is third in line behind #1 Tony White and #2 Tommy Rees
LOL. Tony White's defense has been trash at Florida State. 1st time head coach again? No thank you.
According to Rick Neuheisel, the front runner is Bob Chesney.
Only problem with Chesney is that Penn St. is also available, and Chesney may well rather coach Penn St.
I think many here want Chesney.
Why he, or anyone, would want to right this ship is beyond my comprehension. Unless someone is doing it purely for the money. Sadly.
Money, and trying to prove yourself. Apparently Indiana was one of the worst Power 5 teams ever before Curt Cignetti took over, and he has shown that he is an elite coach
Yeah, but did IU have the equivalent of of Martin the Bozo when he committed?
It is a severely limiting factor.
They were the worst power conference team of all time.
Were we embarrassed? What did anyone expect out of this game? 48-10 seems to be par for the course for anyone facing ohio state this year. Especially with Nico out , I was just happy to not get shutout
Yes, and kudos to backup QB Duncan, who actually had better passing stats than what Iamaleava achieved against #2 Indiana.
Well, at least the Bruins didn't lose as badly to the #1 team in the country (48-10) as they did against #2 Indiana (56-6)... :-)

'to preserve mediocrity and jelly donuts' 🤣
Donut Hole Jelly 2.0 and Blockhead 2.0, along with their donut and block holes, is where we are at.
My hope too is that the new HC demands a Morgan house cleaning and let's throw in a Rose Bowl stadium.
Honestly, God help us if this dumpster fire is allowed to drag us further into hell.

GO BRUINS!

I do not believe Tony White will be a successful hire.

Calling nothing but screen passes and runs up the middle for the first few series was ridiculously stupid.
Lord Cheltham to William Wallace:
"You are outmatched. You have no heavy cavalry....."
Sadly in the example of this contest, the Bruins couldn't muster any semblance of effective schiltron....

Like Texas's Darrell Royal said of Oklahoma's Bud Wilkinson, "He could take his'n and beat your'n or take your'n and beat his'n!"
Another after dark game next week.... Still can't hide how bad this team plays. Penalties and lack of discipline.
