The UCLA Bruins lead the Southern Cal Trojans in the LA City Championship at the half by a score of 21-10.
On the first drive of the game, Quentin Lake intercepted a pass from Kedon Slovis, but the Bruins couldn’t do anything with it and they went three and out.
On UCLA’s next possession, the Bruins started on their own 15-yard line. But they drove 85 yards on 10 plays as Dorian Thompson-Robinson threw a 33-yard pass to Ethan Fernea for a touchdown, giving the Bruins a 7-0 lead.
UCLA’s defense struggled a bit on the next drive as the Bruins allowed Southern Cal to move 47 yards, but, ultimately, the defense held and they forced a 45-yard field goal attempt, which was no good and which proved that Parker Lewis can, in fact, lose.
After the teams traded punts, the Bruins took advantage of an Unsportsmanlike Conduct call against Southern Cal and that gave the Bruins the ball at Southern Cal’s 21. On the very next play, DTR hit Demetric Felton for a 21-yard TD pass and the Bruins lead, 14-0.
Unfortunately, Southern Cal responded with a 65-yard pass to Drake London, which made the Bruin defense look like a clown show as player after player couldn’t tackle London.
Then, the pendulum almost swung back in the Trojans favor. On the Bruins’ second play of the next drive, DTR threw a terrible pass right at Trojan defender Isaiah Pola-Mao which was intercepted. But the UCLA defense held strong and forced Southern Cal to attempt another field goal. This time, Lewis was good. UCLA still led, 14-10.
The Bruins got the ball back and took their time moving downfield with almost surgical precision. With it 3rd and goal from the Trojan 12-yard line and just 35 seconds left, DTR found Felton who weaved his way into the end zone to put the Bruins up 21-10 with just 20 seconds to go and that’s how the half ended.
The Bruins will receive the ball to start the second half after winning the coin toss and deferring their selection.

Chip's coaching made this team better than past years. It looked like we were good enough to beat SC. He was "out coached" in the second half.
