Tonight’s game may be just what the Bruins need after last week’s loss to Oregon State. Stanford’s offense is pretty bad and their defense is nothing to write home about either.
The Bruins are a big 17-point favorite heading into tonight’s game. I think the Bruin offense will be able to move the ball well against the Cardinal defense. As a result, I’m going to picking UCLA to cover the spread this evening even though they are on the road. In fact, I think the Bruins win tonight by at least 21 points.
The Over/Under for tonight is just 53.5 points. Because Stanford is bad, in general, and the Bruin defense is very good, I don’t see the Cardinal scoring more than 10 or 13. That leaves a question as to whether UCLA can generate that enough offense to cover the rest of the over. While I think Dante Moore will play much better tonight than last week, I still don’t see the UCLA offense generating more than 40 points. So, I’m going with the under.
So far this season, My predictions are 4-1 against the spread, having been right for the games against Coastal Carolina, SDSU, Washington State, Oregon State and wrong for the Utah game. I’m 2-3 on the Over/Under, with wins for the SDSU and Utah games and losses for the Coastal Carolina, Washington State, and Oregon State games. I declined to offer predictions for the NCCU game.
Let’s look at the game time weather forecast.
Game Time Weather Forecast
The forecast for tonight’s game is about as good as you can get for a night game in the Bay Area.
At game time, look for it to be partly cloudy and a cool 63° at kickoff. The clouds should dissipate by halftime, resulting in a second half that will be mostly clear and it will cool off a little to about 61° by then. From there, the temperature should remain steady through the entire second half.

Yeah - just read the piece on BRO. Sounds like he’s only going to play in a few games to redshirt this year. I’m not really sure I get it - if he’s really the better starter, shouldn’t he be playing the full year? Anyway, I hope he can get us off to a quick start - he hasn’t earlier in the season. It would be good if Dante could come into the game with a healthy lead, and just rebuild his confidence without pressure.
I actually think Dante should start. I believe his difficulties are primarily due to coaching. I think Chipster is grasping at straws rather than properly coaching a great talent whose skills are not being developed.
Afternoon fellow Bruins! I’m hoping the team can shake off last week and get a convincing win here. I’ve got family connections to Stanford, and if the Bruins lose I hear it for the next 12 months. As this is probably the last meeting for a while, it would be nice to have the upper hand.
It makes me sad that I won't see UCLA v Stanford - probably not again in my life, after 50 years of seeing them every year. I will NOT miss the Pac 12's ridiculous clown team of officials.
News has broke on Twitter that Dante Moore will not be starting
Was wondering. Thanks for the update.
Injured? Or Chip trying something new?
Garbers.

Sometimes Chips selection decisions are puzzling to say the least.
💯
So who do we get, Chenalex?
Ethan Garbers is burning his RS.
I think you get 4 games - pretty sure he still can Redshirt even playing tonight
💯
Last minute decision…bought tickets and heading to the game now. Go Bruins!
Good evening, Bruin Mama, good to see you again, I hope the summer has gone well for you and yours!

7:30 start is tough for you. Let’s see if we can put the game away before halftime.
Will try to post a vibe check from the game if I can get a signal
What does the crowd look like?
Stuck in traffic trying to park. Ugh!
Darn!
Hello all. Go Bruins
Hi Terry! Great to see you!
You too. Late night for me in Tennessee.
Moore hurt, and Garbers starting? I'd think Schlee would be next up - he must be hurt too.
The game feed hasn’t started for me, so I don’t know the full story. What I read though doesn’t seem to suggest Moore is hurt.
Kick off at 7:40
Just came on
Utah beating SUC 28-17 start 4th quarter.
I'm watching while I wait for us! Love that Utah is winning - my home State!
suc just scored on pick 6
SC just had pick 6. Where have we seen that before???
deja vu
Or groundhog day
Yay! Thanks, Terry!
Garners starting.
I'd like but I don't like this decision.
Let's go, Bruins!
Let’s go Bruins!
Good to see J Michael used early.
Garber better learn to slide
Good start.
Let’s get TD here.
Steele for the TD!
Yeah, Steele fer sure!
Here we go Bruins.
Nice start - look really solid and in control
Need 2 more outs in the MLB game so ESPN2 switches over
Let’s get after them D!
Sack, Gabe Murphy!
Sack!
Great stop!
Stanford's defense sucks, given. But we look REALLY efficient on O tonight.
Man of Steele punches it in!
TD!!!!!
Boom! We are rolling!
Vibe check good! Stadium maybe 50% full. At least half in blue!
Awesome!
Already one 8 clap after the last score!
Best start of year.
Wait for the stupid mistake, Terry!
LOL
Defense looking really, really good!
So far I must admit Garbers looks sharp and confident!
I am happy to observe that Garbers looks great so far.
He does! Up until this last drive he had looked above average. Hopefully, he can continue to play within himself and he gets the protection needed.
Looks like he stayed up
Only elbow and forearm touched.
Wow, that was close, thanks, Ryan!
Let's get back to leather helmet rules!
Great 3rd down pass.
It makes me sad that I won't see UCLA v Stanford - probably not again in my life, after 50 years of seeing them every year. I will NOT miss the Pac 12's ridiculous clown team of officials.
😢 Hope that's not true.
Nice run for 7, TJ!
And special teams rears its ugly head, as per usual smdh
Yep.
Oof especially up close
We really suck on special teams don’t we
Oh well...
FG was blocked. Announced in the stadium.
Time to shut them down
Need a bit more pressure
Utah kicked FG on last play of game wins 34-32.
Utah beat suc!!! Just saying!
Utah wins on a walk off FG! 34-32
Just announced in Stadium to a round of cheers!
WooHoo!
