Can't blame him for testing the waters. I like his game and confidence all season. As I told people before the tournament, I love the way the ball looks leaving his hand, it just how it looks approaching the rim that I don't like. That obviously changed in the tourney. But it seems like 50 guys think they'll be first round picks in a league with 30 teams.

But whatever he chooses, good luck to him. There's more than one way to get to the NBA, and if he wants to ball without worrying about school, more power to him. He gave us one hell of a run.

My guess is he’s coming back for one more year. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves.

All the mock drafts and draft projections I can find all have Juzang as a 1st rounder. If teams are seriously considering him in the 1st round, he is gone.

I put up a bunch of post-tournament mock drafts in the article from some pretty solid draft analysts who did not have Juzang very high, if at all, so I'd say his rankings are a bit all over the place currently.

The Bleacher Report article you linked to was from April 2. Were they considering guys who hadn’t declared?

Yeah they were. For example, Joel Ayayi is on that list and nobody was sure if he was going to declare or not.

Also for further example, SI has Juzang as late second round as of April 8: https://www.si.com/nba/2021/04/08/nba-mock-draft-2021-post-march-madness

I bow to your superior knowledge. However, it’s hard to imagine Juzang’s draft stock rising any higher. Also, this draft class doesn’t seem to have the hype that some classes have had in recent years.

Yeah it's hard to say. I think Juzang could probably increase his draft stock by getting the "really good player on a really good team" bump next season, but I do agree that this draft class does not have the acclaim that previous classes have gotten (and I haven't looked enough into the projections for next year to have an idea there) so it's hard to judge what can happen.

Good luck to Juzang. It's a good problem to have. If he's a first or second-rounder, he should go. If not, he's back at UCLA.

Since we haven’t heard about Chris smith yet, is it safe to assume he’s not declaring for the draft?

No one knows what his plan is either way, so too soon to say.
