Does ucla have a quarantine/test protocol? For example, in the nba, a positive test leads to 10 days in quarantine or two negative tests over 24 hours. Was wondering if ucla has something similar because if they do hopefully they can get back sooner than later, good thing our whole teams/staff fully vaccinated too.
they should just not be testing vaccinated players unless they have symptoms. There is no reason a vaccinated player who has covid and no symptoms should not be able to play. This is what the NFL is doing, and it is working fine.
Just cancelled my plane tickets to Vegas. Hope everyone gets better soon! It seems that COVID protocol forfeits are likely to hit nearly all basketball programs sometime this season. Washington, Ohio State, Syracuse, UCLA, .... this list will grow.
The Bruins seemed to be on a roll, so it really sucks to have their schedule be interrupted. COVID-19 seems to be making the end of 2021 look more like a revisit of 2020 with sports games and other large public events being postponed or cancelled altogether. Testing protocols and quarantines will also make it challenging just to have enough uninfected athletes eligible to play. Not sure how bad it'll get as we enter the new year, but thank goodness the highly infectious Omicron variant apparently isn't as deadly, especially for those who are fully vaccinated. Stay safe during the holidays everyone!
Boy, they really have no idea what they are doing. Westbrook in the protocol yesterday, playing tonight. Rules changing constantly. Kyrie allowed back. NFL players livid. What a joke.
As I said above, nba protocols are 10-day quarantine or two negative tests over 24 hours. That’s been the rule since the beginning of the season, if a player is in protocols for more than 24hrs that means they’re still testing positive. Kyrie being held out was a Nets decision, unrelated to covid protocols. He only wasn’t allowed to play in games in NY, could’ve played in road games but Nets decided to bench him completely.
I think it’s impossible to have a uniform standard. Different rules in each state or country for some leagues. Also, it makes sense to constantly change procedures because of new information regarding the illness.
That's actually not true. it would be very easy to say if you test positive you cant play until you test negative. if you test negative you can play. There's no reason to send vaccinated players to "quarantine" because so called contact tracing says they may have made contact with someone who might have covid. It's very unworkable. Especially in college when it's basically a who cares situation if a player tests positive.
I think we disagree on some things. That is why we can’t have a uniform standard. Not everyone thinks the same. Not saying i am right, just saying it’s hard to have a uniform standard if we can’t agree.
For what's it worth, Chip and several players met with the media yesterday. Of course, Cronin met with the media the day before the South Alabama game.
On BRO, Tracy wrote that UCLA’s protocol is 10-day quarantine for a positive test, so same as NBA/NFL. That will put ucla resuming team activities on Dec 25 assuming Cronin is the only positive case
That's actually not the NBA protocol. It's 10 days OR 2 negative tests in a 24 hour period. The NFL is even more loose. The NFL allows covid positive players to return to play if they have two tests showing the viral load is low enough so the player is not contagious. Yet, at UCLA a false positive still requires a 10 day quarantine. Mindless.
The NBA is TBD. The NBA has delayed five games due to COVID outbreaks, affecting match-ups involving the Cleveland Cavaliers, Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Brooklyn Nets. Meanwhile, the NHL has postponed all 12 cross-border games until after the holiday break that begins on December 23rd.
Texas A&M just pulled out of the Gator Bowl due to COVID... organizers will look to pair Wake Forest "against another team who's opponent had to pull out of their bowl game if there are any such teams available", per SI...
It looks like we’re just going to muddle through at least until the new year. Good I guess?Thursday's game between Seton Hall and DePaul has been cancelled due to issues related to COVID-19.

Also OH State also has covid issues, not sure if they extend to the womens team but UNC will now be facing Kentucky in Vegas.
I can’t find anything about it on the google…

that's my point. it's a clown show. constantly changing. there is not one uniform standard. what works for one league should work for others.

This sounds promising

The initial policies were put in place when the pandemic was in a much different place.
