Spaulding Report: UCLA Football UNLV Week Media Interviews
As you wait for today's game to kickoff, we've gathered all of this week's UCLA Football interviews for you in one place.

As usual, we’ll get right to this week’s interviews and see what’s been getting said at this week’s UCLA football press conferences. I’m just going to share these here all in the same place to make it easy for our readers to watch them if you haven’t already. The videos in this article are courtesy of UCLA Athletics on YouTube unless noted otherwise.
As always, we’ll start off with head coach DeShaun Foster. You may not want to watch most of this one. That’s because he basically opens the interview with what is probably his second worst media appearance ever, trailing only his Big Ten Media Day statement from last season. “How did he begin?” you ask. Foster said:
We were close.
Umm. No. You lost by 33. You were not close. You were two-thirds of the way to a 50-point blowout on late-night national TV. If you think you were close, you’re delusional. Do better next time.
On Wednesday, Coach Foster was asked about how the team’s tackling drills have gone. He responded by saying:
Everything that we're doing is the same thing that we've been doing. So, it's been going good.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. So, if they are still doing the same thing, that doesn’t seem especially positive.
Foster did mention that both teams have running backs whose last name is Thomas and both are nicknamed “Jet.” That begs the question: Will the real Jet Thomas please stand up tonight?
Moving to Tuesday’s player interviews, linebacker Jalen Woods is up first, followed by running back Anthony Woods. Jalen Woods was asked about how physical practice was in what seems like an attempt to see if practice was any more physical than normal. In other words, was there a bigger focus on tackling. But Jalen didn’t seem to get that that’s what was being asked and basically indicated that it was a typical Tuesday in terms of how physical it was.
Meanwhile, Anthony Woods just seemed to be happy to be back playing football again after not playing a game last season.
Rodrick Pleasant was one of the few bright spots on the defense against Utah. On Wednesday, he spoke with the media. He spoke mostly about what it’s like coming back home.
He was asked if his high school coach, Scott Altenberg from Serra Gardena, influenced his decision to come to UCLA because he’s a big UCLA guy. Pleasant replied that he just wants his guys to be happy, but he continued,
Me being here, he’s super happy.
He is, indeed! I can attest to the fact that he was cheering him on all game last week.

"Missed it by that much. We were right there. Just another 34 points and we would have won!"
Last year, I felt bad for Foster being put in an impossible situation and being willing to step up to face what chip left behind... now, he owns this mess and I'm starting to wonder whether he's going to do more damage to the program with his coaching than his accepting a truck in '01
