This was going to be a different first half recap.
UCLA was actually leading this game until the final play before the half when redshirt freshman Chase Griffin threw an interception which Oregon’s Jordan Happle returned for a touchdown, giving the Ducks a 24-21 lead as the team went into the locker room.
Prior to that, it had been a back and forth kind of half.
After the teams exchanged a pair of short drives and punts, the Bruins started what would be a 9-play drive, but the drive ended when Griffin fumbled and it was recovered by Vernon McKinley III to UCLA’s 19. On the next play, Tyler Shough put the Ducks up by seven.
Qwantrezz Knight fumbled the ensuing kickoff and one more play resulted in Oregon being up 14-0.
The Bruins followed with a 52-yard drive that was capped by a 1-yard run by Demetric Felton.
Knight made up for his fumble when he recovered a C.J. Verdell fumble for a touchdown to tie the game. The Bruin defense followed that with a goal line stand to hold the Ducks to three as Oregon took a 17-14 lead.
Griffin then led the Bruins on a 10-play, 69-yard drive that ended with a 32-yard touchdown pass to tight end Greg Dulcich and UCLA took a 21-17 lead.
Then, on the final play of the half, Griffin through his first collegiate pick to give Oregon the lead at the half.
Overall, the defense was adequate and the offense was pretty good. If not for that last turnover, the Bruins would have gone into the locker room with a lead.
Hopefully, they can hold onto the ball in the second half.

He reminds of Kyler Murray, but for a couple of dropped balls we may very well have won. I think we stick with DTR though. That halftime TD really did us in. I don’t get what’s with this team and turnovers. Hopefully we’ll get it out of our system.
