Not having Latu playing is a tremendous hit for the defense. His absence will make a good run defense less effective and certainly will be missing his pass rushing. Murphy is a big step down. There is also the mental and momentum factor. At the end of the Cal game, UCLA's morale looked at a low point of the season and Chip's "I do not care", arrogant attitude is unlikely to rally the troops. I agree with Joe expecting a loss but it really does not matter losing in the Toilet Bowl. Retaining Chip is a total nightmare. I cringe at thinking what will happen next season when the Bruins will be under dogs in every game except, perhaps, the Hawaii game.

💯 a nightmare with Chipster Alfraud on the sidelines. It is still unbelievable to me that invariably every other university (public and private) has fired their dumpster fire coaches except UCLA.

Jarmond has been successful at creating a 'continous, consistent culture' of Football failure, and has skillfully set UCLA up to be demolished in the BIG.

And I doubt we will beat Hawaii.

Tamara, I concur.

Wonder if we can reanimate J.D. Morgan and fire Jarmon?

The Bruins under this management are dead to me.

Nice 4 star transfer. Only a freshman. This kid had a 102 receiving yard game just a month ago.

Meh. Without massive O-Line upgrades even if Garbers returns and we aren't stuck with some 3rd Tier transfer QB, he'll just be another J. Michael or Ford running patterns for little purpose and outplayed by Loya...

From my perspective as a 15 year season ticket holder, eliminating tailgating removes the only way to derive pleasure from attending a UCLA football game.

I chose not to go to today's bowl game for the exact same reasons as Joe.

Alum and season ticket holder since the mid-90s as a student who also didn't buy bowl tickets as a personal protest, not just due to the decision to retain chip (I mean even the dysfunctional chargers figured out that his NFL doppelganger had to go!) but also because of what I saw at the Rose Bowl against UC Berkeley. Sure I've seen lots of bad football as Joe so adroitly put it but that can be forgiven... What is unforgivable is quitting mid-game. The only other time I can remember a Bruin team quitting like that was 2001 at the mausoleum when the team that was the first ever BCS #1 got derailed by the DeShawn new truck scandal and clearly couldn't have cared less by the time they played $outhern Cal to end the season...

Quitting is the ultimate insult by an athlete and the ultimate demonstration that a coach has lost their team. And a rot that must be stopped - I feel bad for those who didn't and won't but I can't get past it to go watch it again, even locally.

Go BRUINS

"As a UCLA season ticket holder since the 90s, I’ve been to a lot of bad football games, but I’ve never been to a bad tailgate. Not being allowed to tailgate is a good reason NOT to go to a game, and frankly, the next time I hear someone claiming to be a UCLA fan suggest that the Bruins should play their home games at SoFi, I fully intend to remind them how SoFi prohibited tailgating today. That’s just unacceptable."

..below are links to the Rams' and Chargers' guide to tailgating at SoFi stadium. Loos like those teams' fans are afforded the privilege while the Los Angeles Bowel [sic] are not.
