How to Watch, Listen and Stream UC Berkeley Golden Bears at UCLA Bruins: Game Time, TV Schedule, Radio, Odds and More
Tonight, the Bruins and the Bears meet in the final Pac-12 football game, at least as we know it.
For some weird reason, it feels right that UCLA will close their Pac-12 football era with the last #Pac12AfterDark game.
UCLA doesn’t seem like they have that much to play for other than pride tonight. The Bruins are already bowl eligible and will be heading to some lower level bowl as has been the case for the past 25 years. Maybe they will be motivated to claim a “California State Championship” if they can beat Berkeley, having already run through the likes of San Diego State, Stanford, and Southern Cal. Nevermind the fact that they didn’t play Fresno State. Maybe they’ll get the Bulldogs in the LA Bowl to truly wrap that up.
On the other hand, UC Berkeley comes in to tonight’s game needing a win to become bowl eligible. That could motivate the Bears, and a win in the final game against the Bruins would give Berkeley fans something to cling to since their school has been eclipsed by UCLA in everything academically.
It seems like a perfect recipe for either a trap game if the last regular season game can be called that, or at least one last #Pac12AfterDark upset. I hope I’m wrong here.
Odds
The Bruins are a 9-point favorite in tonight’s game. Last week’s rivalry game notwithstanding, it’s been a rough November for the Bruins. They began the month by losing back-to-back games against Arizona and Arizona State.
UC Berkeley comes to the Rose Bowl, having beaten Washington State and Stanford. The Bears need a win tonight in order to become bowl eligible.
The only place where anyone has stopped the Bruins’ rushing attack came two weeks ago against Arizona State when Chip Kelly insisted on running up the middle at the goal line. Last week, Kelly seemed to acknowledge it was the wrong call by calling different plays at the goal line. I don’t expect him to be so stubborn again (though, I wouldn’t put it past him). The bottom line here is that the Bruin defense will hold up and UCLA will cover the 9 points. Take the Bruins and give the points.
The Over/Under is 51 points. Even with it set that low, I still think it’s a stretch to go with the over. If the Bruins score 30 to 35, the defense would have to give up three touchdowns to cover the Over. I don’t see it happening. Take the Under this week.
After last week’s game, my record for the season is now 5-5 against the spread this season, having been right for the games against Coastal Carolina, SDSU, Washington State, Oregon State and Stanford while I was wrong for the Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Southern Cal games. The Bruin defense held their rivals to just 20 points last week, allowing UCLA to cover the Under. As a result, I’m now 7-3 on the Over/Under, with wins for the SDSU, Utah, Stanford, Colorado, Arizona, Arizona State and Southern Cal games and losses for the Coastal Carolina, Washington State, and Oregon State games. I declined to offer any predictions for the NCCU game.
Tailgating and Game Time Weather Forecast
If you’re heading to the Rose Bowl for the tonight’s final Pac-12 football game, expect a pleasant day for tailgating, but you’ll definitely want to bring some warm clothes to put on for the game itself.
When tailgating begins at 1:30 pm, it will be about 66° and sunny. It will stay in the mid-60s all afternoon until the sun starts to go down. Expect it to be about 62° and clear at 5 pm. By 6 pm, it will dip into the upper 50s.
Some clouds will move in by kickoff as the temperature drops to about 57° and it will keep slipping to about 55° at halftime. More clouds will move in starting around the beginning of the fourth quarter and by the end of the second half, the temperature will drop to about 53°.
Depth Chart
By this point in the season, the Bruin depth chart is a bit of a cruel joke since it doesn’t actually reflect changes Chip Kelly has made to the depth chart.
This week, there is one change which was apparently made at the beginning of November. No, there wasn’t any switch. It was just a name change for backup long snapper. Salem Wahab is now being referred to as Salem Abdul-Wahab.
Here is UCLA’s official depth chart for tonight:

Couple of things, and I welcome retort:
1) Joe, I've really enjoyed your articles and features going back to previous platforms; keep up the good work.
2) The extermination of "Simulcast" capability - when one could no longer watch the Bruins (or any other athletic endeavor for that matter) on network TV with the sound turned down, while simultaneously listening to Bruins' radio broadcasts - was pretty much the "that's it" turning point for me as since, I've been a fairly serious cord-cutter. I won't get to watch tonight's finale for example.
That stated, I'd like to ask all who care to reply, whether or not you - as I do - think the emergence of "The PAC12 Networks" played any part in the demise of the greatest athletics conference the Nation has ever seen?
3) In concert with #2, I lived in Cincinnati for just under 3 years on a contract, and it happened to be during the period during which Leinart, Bush and co. were demolishing nearly everybody. My first Fall back there, my wife had gotten a consulting job at a very nice wine/cheese boutique that also had an excellent little bar in it. I went to pick up the wifey from work and had to wait, so I proceed to the bar and got myself a beer. The Trojans @ Notre Dame was on the TV's in the bar. Bush took the opening kickoff back substantially and SC just marched on em, boom - TD!
I exclaimed "Yeah!" with a little fist pump. Every single head in that joint turned and looked at me....At commercial, a patron comes up to me and says: "Hey man, you're in the wrong part of the Country to be cheering for those fuckers." - Little did he know, SC vs. Notre Dame is the ONLY time I cheer for Trojan football.
During my time in Ohio, I learned of the absolute, to-the-very-soul hatred for both the Bruins and the Trojans in that region. It's "not going to be very pleasant" when either squad trots out onto the field the very first time at Michigan, Michigan State, OSU, or Penn State doesn't convey the half of it....
GO BRUINS! BEAT CAL!
In other news... Michigan State just hired Smith from Oregon State whom I do not believe to be a great coach but much better than the Chipster.
It's amazing how our BIG brethren hire coaches so easily while UCLA Football slogs through the quicksand with Jarmond and Chip watching safely from the beach.
