When the Bruins beat Southern Cal on Saturday, they clinched the number two seed in the Pac-12 Tournament. As a result of that, UCLA will play Washington State tonight in the third Pac-12 quarterfinals game.
That’s because the Cougs used a 12-point halftime lead to beat the UC Berkeley Golden Bears, 66-59. Berkeley tried to come back in the second half and the Bears outscored Wazzu, 39-34, in the half, but they were unable to completely dig themselves out of their first half hole.
And, as their prize for beating the Bears, the Cougars now get to play the Bruins tonight.
Outlook
Look for tonight’s game to be another buzzsaw. When UCLA went into Pullman last month, the Bruins started the game with a 9-0 run and it only got worse from there.
As long as the Bruins don’t start looking ahead to a semifinal matchup against the hated Trojans, they should win easily again tonight. In fact, considering that tonight’s game is on a neutral court, UCLA might crush the Cougs even worse than they did in Pullman.
Like Washington State’s game last night, this one should be over by halftime.
