UCLA’s losing streak increased to four last weekend when the Bruins were swept by the Washington schools. As a result, UCLA now sits in a tie for fifth place in the Pac-12 with just two games left in the regular season. That wouldn’t be so bad by itself, but they are now two games behind Colorado and Oregon which enter the weekend tied for third with an 11-7 record.
That means that one or both of them will need to lose both of their games this weekend and the Bruins will need to win both of theirs for UCLA to even have a shot at finishing in the top four and earning a first round bye in the Pac-12 Tournament.
Of course, with UCLA hosting Arizona tonight, this evening’s game may be the last time these teams play on the hardwood during the regular season for quite a while. Hopefully, the Bruins will play with a little pride tonight in order to win the last scheduled meeting against the Wildcats.
Since these teams met in January, Arizona has gone 6-2 while the Bruins have gone 6-4. The Wildcats are bringing a three-game winning streak with them into Pauley tonight. They’ll also have a chip on their shoulders tonight because an Arizona win tonight coupled with a Washington State loss will allow them to clinch the Pac-12 regular season title and the top seed in the Pac-12 Tournament.
As far as the starters go, Arizona is expected to start the same five guys they started back in January.
Hopefully, UCLA is able to break their losing streak tonight at home.
