Dimitri, two questions..

..what is a "buy" game? And I thought UCB was UCLA's "Big Brother"? You know, Cal Bearz v. UCLA Bruins?

Terrific article,

A buy game is a game that a top tier team plays against a lower-tier team, usually a one-off (so not a home-and-home like UCLA is doing with San Diego State) that involves a substantial amount of money changing hands.

And Berkeley gets to be Big Brother when they stop being broke boys and Calimony ends. Until then, they're clearly Little Brother.

Perfectly logical! Always liked the fact that they sucked rocks 58 times to 36 wins since the 30s. (We're 16-10 since the turn of the century!)

Would, by the way, WMU have been a "buy game" for Michigan this past week? Hear tell that, after that double secret probation clock fiasco this past weekend when their "explanation" did not fly, they upped the ante they offered WMU to be their "sacrificial lambs" from a million to two million. What an outrageous stink bomb!

Had the unique distinction of attending both the 1976 RB game (UCLA 23 OSU 19, Woody Hayes) and the 1983 RB game (UCLA 24 Michigan 14, Bo Schembeckler). Seems back in the day, Prothro, Vermeil, and especially Donahue feasted heartily on the then Big 10!

Perhaps a return to those halcyon days?

Thanks!

Definitely WMU was a buy game for Michigan 😂 a lot of FCS teams play FBS teams early in the season and 99% of them get blown out but get paid $$$$
