Tonight, the Bruins play the final game of the Pac-12 football era when UCLA hosts UC Berkeley at the Rose Bowl. Not only is tonight’s game the final Pac-12 regular season game, it is also the final #Pac12AfterDark game. Will Pac-12 football go gently into that good night, or will #Pac12AfterDark have one last hurrah?
Can UCLA finish a sweep of the California Pac-12 schools to claim the “California State Championship?” Will Berkeley be motivated to beat UCLA as the teams meet for the last time and, in so doing, become bowl eligible?
Those are some interesting questions for what could be an otherwise meaningless football game.
After tonight’s game, the Bruins next regular season game will be as a member of the Big Ten Conference. UCLA leaves the Pac-12 without ever winning a conference title since the Pac-10 added Utah and Colorado to become the Pac-12.
Join us in the comments below as we send Pac-12 football off to annals of history.
Here are the Keys to the Game for the Bruins tonight:
Keys to the Game
1. Stop Jaydn Ott
The Bruins have the best run defense in the nation. UC Berkeley’s offense features Jaydn Ott as their primary running back and the Bears run a balanced offense which leans toward running the ball more. UCLA needs to stop Ott tonight in order to win.
2. Red Zone Offense
Tonight’s game features two very good defenses. In order for UCLA to win, the Bruins need to take advantage of all their red zone opportunities by putting the ball in the end zone. If they can’t do that, it might be another long night.
3. Create Turnovers & Don’t Make Them
UC Berkeley’s defense has done a good job turning the ball over. That presents a danger for UCLA, given the Bruins penchant for turning the ball over on offense. The defense needs to take the ball away more than the offense gives it up.

will someone please explain the pac 12 bowl hierarchy? Do the Bowls basically have a draft for pac 12 schools? If so, why are we either Las Vegas or LA? Isn't LA below Alamo and Sun?
I think the quality of bowl is dictated by the participants. If it's Pac 12 3 vs. Big 12 3, i see no different in whether it's the Las Vegas Bowl, Peach Bowl, or Motor City Bowl. If the Rose Bowl were pac 12 5 vs. Big 10 5, it would be a terrible bowl.
I remember it well. It was Pac 8 and then Pac 10 when Arizona and Arizona State arrived. As I was growing up in Wisconsin, memories of watching UCLA playing either football or basketball remain vivid for me. Amidst the gloomy, chilly fall climate in Wisconsin, the TV images of Bruins squaring off against opponents in the Rose Bowl field under a sunny blue sky were more than a treat for me. By the same token, as Wisconsin's winter snowy landscape saw us cramming in high school, taking breaks to watch - late in the evening because of time difference - UCLA routinely blasting opponents in Pauley or elsewhere made me determine to go west, to attend UCLA through thick or thin even if few of my cohorts would even contemplate it. But I did. The rest is history. Decades later, we are playing our very, very last game of the Pac 12 conference even. Everything I hold dear about my alma mater will indeed become history too, except in a different dimension and time. Go Bruins !!!!!!!!!!
The thing that is most frustrating is that other schools somehow find a way to fire bad coaches and hire good coaches - I don't think Smith is great imho. But UCLA doesn't budge when we have a below average coach.
we have a below average coach because we have below average money. What is the point of firing Chip when we would just replace him with another below average coach?
There are no potential HC hires for UCLA. Chip is not going anywhere. Even if Chip were to leave, UCLA could not have come close to affording what MSU is going to pay him.
We will again need 3 or 4 takeaways to win tonight. Cal has a good gameplan. Dare us to throw. Unless we get great Qb play tonight, we lose. Enjoy the end of an era everyone. Long live the Pac 12!
I'm of the lets win in our Final Pac 12 game mindset. But I hear you. The kid has a lot of growing to do and if he's here, which I don't know is a given, he needs a lot of reps
U!
Clap, clap, clap!

i meant Holiday not Alamo.
Not sure how it will shake out but it's the worst bowl options of any Power 5. They all are gradients of awful except of course the Rose Bowl.

Anyone else attending the last regular season PAC 12 football game ever?
I believe BruinMom17 will be there!
Good Evening Tamara. Go Bruins.
Hi Terry! Great to see you!
I was there and it was painful 😫😫
I'm here and it's hideous...
Me too. So painful.

If the Pac 12 were a publicly traded financial services company, what prison term would Larry Scott be looking at right now?
Life.
$85 million golden parachute while the pension was emptied out
Good evening Bruin Fam! The end of Pac-12 Football is about to begin - such a strange feeling.
Go Bruins! Beat the bears! 💙💛
Go Bruins.
Surprise. Intro by Bill Walton. All time Bruin great.
I am not home. Is Bill physically on the field ?
Think it was pre recorded.
Moving the ball well!
Garbers plays with poise.
Agreed.
Surprise Moore intercepted. Poor read.
Yep. Not great for his confidence either.
Well that was not good.
Moore has not lost his touch. 1 play, 1 turnover
If Dante Moore transfers only midmajors will want him. He threw that pass right into triple coverage.
Looks like Garbers might have dislocated his shoulder, with the way he was holding his arm ::
All in all terrible outcomes.
This is genuinely a bad take. If Moore entered the transfer portal, which he won't, he'd be the #1 player available.
Looks like a potential HC hire for UCLA was hired by Michigan state. I know People were hoping Johnathan Smith could be our next hire.
The thing that is most frustrating is that other schools somehow find a way to fire bad coaches and hire good coaches - I don't think Smith is great imho. But UCLA doesn't budge when we have a below average coach.
MSU coach had ethical and harassment issues.
True. He was in hot water.

At the RB right now. It's Garbers injury confirmed?
Not sure why Moore started that last possession.
He was holding his arm on sideline and having it worked on.
Grimacing while throwing on sideline. Not sure he's coming back.....
Rather see Moore get the reps. He needs it. He'll be the guy next year.
I'm of the lets win in our Final Pac 12 game mindset. But I hear you. The kid has a lot of growing to do and if he's here, which I don't know is a given, he needs a lot of reps
The PI call was ridiculous. Not even catchable.
SPTR cement their legend.
Just thinking the same thing. It would only be fitting for the last Pac 12 game to have SPTRS 😆
Cal jumbed
What justes happened I just joined
UCLA got penalized.
Great to see you Ry!
Disconcerting signals.
LOL
So far this game is a mess.
Just thinking we need to get our act together
Bruins look flat.
💯
Feels like ASU game deja vu
Two FG is not a disaster but need Moore and offense to get act together.
What the heck is a illegal snap
Moved the ball then reset it.
Oh
Need a score out of this drive.
Yes we did.
That play never had a chance. 8 guys in the backfield. Fuck Chip Kelly
Chip decided he wants to be Chip and a stubborn idiot
ASU all over again
Got a break. Need to get something out of it.
Defense!
They are going to pack the box to force Mooreto pass.
Great pass by Moore!
Really happy for him right now. He is a great young man.
He truly is.
Moore looking good tonight.
Let’s see if Chip can call the right play.
What a complete cluster
Yep although Cal made a n excellent play on 3rd down.
My thought exactly.
Just ridiculous
Ohio State missed 3 field goals today.
We've only missed one 🤣
Soory fiends I've been on the wrong thread. We're not looking ready for our last PAC game.
Good evening Jim. Glad you can join us v
Hi Jim! 💙💛
Our defense will have to score tonight. There it is
Well, we only need five yards.
Latu, First and goal, go Bruins!
Do not turn it over!!!!!@
TD Loya!
FINALLY.
We are the dominant team. Now need to dominate the score.
That sucked.
Laotu is the goat
Suck, Ott! Kick return for TD.
Missed field goals, kickoff returns for TD's, even their special teams suck!
Great XX yard rush their by Firstname Lastname for the score.
This drive will tell us a lot about our team.
Not good.
Nope.
