UCLA Women's Water Polo Looks to Avenge 8-6 Loss to Arizona State
After the Bruins weren't able to generate enough offense to win yesterday's game, they will try to get back on track this morning.
The UCLA women’s water polo team faces Arizona State again today as the teams conclude their two-game series. Yesterday, the Bruins were beaten by the Sun Devils, 8-6. Today’s game starts at 9:30 am PT and will be livestreamed.
Last Time Out
For most of the first quarter, neither team was able to score, but Arizona State broke through with just 1:10 to go. UCLA tied it up 17 seconds later with a goal from Brooke Maxson.
Ava Johnson scored the first goal of the second quarter to put the Bruins up, 2-1. But a four-goal flurry let the Sun Devils take a 5-2 lead. Katrina Drake closed the gap to 5-3 at the half.
While the Bruins were able to close the gap to just one goal as a result of Val Ayala’s goal to start the scoring in the second half, UCLA wasn’t able to tie the game in the second half.
ASU scored their sixth goal with two minutes left in the third quarter to make it 6-4. In the fourth quarter, each team scored twice, with Johnson and Hannah Palmer scoring for the Bruins. But UCLA just couldn’t get the goals they needed to tie that game up and the Bruins fell, 8-6.
