UCLA Women's Volleyball Opens NCAA Tourney Against Rider
The Bruins have drawn the MAAC champions for their first round match in this year's tournament.
Tonight, the UCLA women’s volleyball team begins play in the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. Up first for the Bruins are the Rider Broncs. Tonight’s match will be livestreamed via ESPN3/WatchESPN and it begins at 7:30 pm PT.
Rider has won their last six matches in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference after starting the season 1-4. They earned the conference’s automatic bid by winning all three matches in the conference tournament.
Let’s be honest here.
There is just no way that at women’s volleyball team from the MAAC should ever come close to beating a team from the Pac-12, let alone UCLA.
In fact, while this season had its share of ups and down, the Bruins should probably be able to sweep Rider tonight.
UCLA finished the regular season on a high note with a pair of wins over Oregon State, 3-0 and 3-1. And, while this year’s team may not be anywhere close to the teams Andy Banachowski had, they managed to win more than two-thirds of the games on the schedule.
