UCLA Women's Tennis Plays Georgia Tech in NCAA Third Round
The fourth-seeded Bruins will look to advance to Wednesday's quarterfinals.
The UCLA women’s tennis team continues their quest for 120 today, even though that quest could become a quest for 121 by the end of the day today due to the fact that the women’s water polo team is playing for a national championship this afternoon.
The Bruins are seeded fourth overall in this year’s NCAA Women’s Tennis Tournament and, today, they take on the thirteenth-seeded Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at Noon PT.
They got to today’s match by beating both Grand Canyon and Texas Tech by a score of 4-0 in each match.
As the four seed, the Bruins look to have their best chance to win a national championship since they won NC #111 back in 2014. This year’s team has been led by Abbey Forbes, Jada Hart, and Elysia Bolton. Expect that trio to play on Courts 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Rounding out the remaining singles courts should be Vivian Wolff, Abi Altick and Annette Goulak. When it comes to doubles, look for Forbes to pair with Hart, Goulak to pair with Wolff and Altick to pair with Taylor Johnson.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets got to today’s match by defeating Georgia Southern, 5-0, and North Florida, 4-0, last weekend. The Yellow Jackets last lost to North Carolina, the top seed in the NCAA Tournament, when the teams played for the ACC Championship.
Overall, Georgia Tech leads the series with UCLA, 4-3, with the Yellow Jackets having won the last meeting which took place in the 2018 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
