The UCLA women’s golf team sits in 15th place after three rounds at the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Arizona. That’s the good news. The bad news it that the Bruins will need to finish today in at least eighth place in order to advance to the match play portion of the competition.

After three rounds, UCLA has shot a 31-over 895. They trail first place Stanford by 49 strokes. But that isn’t really the number the Bruins should be concerned with.

That’s due to the fact that the top eight teams after today will advance to the match play portion of the competition meaning they need to climb seven spots to move on.

Emma Spitz remains in the hunt for the individual championship. She shot a 1-under 71 yesterday, bringing her to 3-under through three rounds. That’s good for a third place tie with ASU’s Ashley Menne and Duke’s Gina Kim. She is two strokes behind Stanford’s Angela Ye, who shot a 7-under 65 yesterday to move into second place. Rachel Heck of Stanford remains in first overall. Heck is now 10-under through three rounds.

Annabel Wilson led the rest of the Bruins with a 3-over 75 yesterday while Emilie Paltrinieri shot a 4-over 76. Yuki Yoshihara shot another 6-over 78 for her second straight round of 78. Simar Singh’s 7-over 79 was not counted for the second straight day since she was UCLA’s highest scorer for the day.

UCLA will tee off today at 10:10 am PT today and they will start on hole 10.

UCLA Will Need To Move Forward Without Jaylen Clark
The forward's status for the rest of the season is still in doubt, but the Bruins have faced adversity before.
