So I was tired and not planning on doing a major game thread for this game, but the Wisconsin Badgers have become something of a villain for the comments section here, and far be it from me to deny that group the chance to watch another Badger defeat at the hands of a superior school.
That said, my preview is going to discuss Wisconsin as little as possible because, frankly, the Badgers do not have a very good basketball team. I don’t mean in relation to UCLA, that goes without saying, but Wisconsin sits at 13-14 on the season and sits near the bottom of the Big Ten standings. Pretending this will be a close game is the job for a better writer than myself.
Really, I just wanted to talk about the Bruins, who have very much been scuffling these past few games. The loss to Southern Cal showed some real weaknesses on this team, and the victories over Michigan State, Illinois, and Iowa have not dissuaded me of the notion that this team is going through a rough patch. Of note, teams have figured out a way to, if not defend Lauren Betts, at least to slow her down, and UCLA’s guard and wing play has not risen to the occasion.
The good news is that Wisconsin should not put up much of a challenge, but that also means if UCLA does not dominate from the opening tip, the questions will only continue to grow. The Bruins would love if Kiki Rice could get back into a groove, or if the outside shooting could hit a few more times (the Bruins have been below 25% from three in the last two games).
This is your UCLA women’s basketball @ Wisconsin game thread.
Go Bruins!
It was a very good win.
This was a very much needed win and confidence booster heading into the game with just SC. Much better 3 pt shooting and much better on turnovers. Let’s go Bruins!!!
