#2 UCLA Softball Visits Utah for Weekend Series
After winning the home stand against Washington, the Bruins are back on the road.
UCLA softball travels to Utah this weekend for a four-game series. First pitch for today’s game is set for 4 pm PT. The game will not be televised, but is available for viewing on Utah’s livestream on the Pac-12 website.
Last Time Out
The UCLA Bruins softball team took game four of the series with the Washington Huskies last weekend, scoring three runs in the first and holding off the Huskies for the series win. Megan Faraimo pitched a complete game, striking out six and allowing six hits and two earned runs.
In the bottom of the first, Aaliyah Jordan drew a two-out walk and was followed by Rachel Garcia who homered. Not to be outdone, Delanie Wisz made it back-to-back home runs for the Bruins, giving UCLA a quick 3-0 lead.
In the top of the third, the Huskies got on the board with a solo home run, but UCLA got the run back when Briana Perez led off the bottom half of the inning with a solo homer to center field. After three, UCLA was up, 4-1.
In the top of the seventh, Washington scored on a one-out RBI double, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Bruins. Faraimo got the final two outs on a strikeout and line out to Perez at short as UCLA took game four, 4-2, to secure the series win.
Utah Utes
The Utes have not beaten UCLA since 2017 when Utah swept a three-game series. Utah comes into the weekend with just a 2-13 record in conference games and a 17-23 record overall. The Bruins should be able to sweep the series this weekend.
