UCLA Softball Travels to Fullerton for First Doubleheader

After their doubleheader against Cal Poly Pomona was canceled last weekend, the Bruins pick up their bats again today to take on Cal State Fullerton.

The UCLA Bruins softball team is coming off a shutout win and a canceled doubleheader as they move on to their next opponent, the Cal State Fullerton Titans. Today’s games are at 1:00 PT and 3:30 PT and can be seen on Cal State Fullerton’s livestream. No fans will be in attendance.

Last Friday, UCLA started off with strong pitching by Megan Faraimo, who struck out three in the top of the first. The Bruin bats were on fire as Bubba Nickles started off the game with a home run, followed by a single by Briana Perez. Rachel Garcia, not to be outdone, homered as well, making the score 3-0. Delanie Wisz scored on a single by Anna Vines, who also scored on a sacrifice fly by Alyssa Garcia and a fielding error at third base. Kinsley Washington made it around the bases, making the score, 6-0.

Scoring was quiet until the third when Seneca Curo singled and was brought home by a RBI ground out by Nickles. The final score would be 7-0 with Faraimo striking out 13 and only allowing one hit.

Cal State Fullerton Titans

Cal State Fullerton has been picked in the preseason coaches poll to win their fifth consecutive Big West Conference Championship. The Titans are 4-4 overall, coming off a sweep of LMU on Thursday afternoon. They have played two other Pac-12 teams this season, losing to both Oregon State and Arizona State.

CSUF is a very young team with a majority freshmen and sophomores and only three seniors on the roster. Freshman Megan Delgadillo and senior Irie Siofele are both batting .400; however, neither has homered this year. Senior right-handed pitcher Sophie Frost will most likely get the start, bringing with her a 2.55 ERA.
