#2 UCLA Softball Hosts Oregon State Beavers This Weekend

After taking three of the four games against the Oregon Ducks last weekend, UCLA hosts the Beavers at Easton Stadium.

After dropping the series opener to Oregon Ducks last Friday, the UCLA Bruins Softball team rallied to take the next three games and the series, outscoring the Ducks 18-8. Today, the Bruins take on the Oregon State Beavers at 4:00 pm PT. The game will not be televised, but will be live streamed.

Last Time Out

In Sunday’s game, Oregon opened up scoring at the bottom of the first when their second batter homered to center field. They did the same at the bottom of the second, keeping the score at 2-0, Oregon until the UCLA bats woke up at the top of the fifth.

After Anna Vines walked and advanced to second on a passed ball, she was able to score on an RBI single by Kinsley Washington. The score was now 2-1, but the Bruins weren’t finished.

In the top of the sixth, Briana Perez reached on a fielding error and Rachel Garcia followed with a two-run homer to left-center, making it 3-2 Bruins.

UCLA rallied again in the seventh. Alyssa Garcia started off the inning with a walk, and Alana Snow pinch-ran for her. With two outs, Aaliyah Jordan singled, giving the Bruins two on for Perez. She hit a three-run bomb to right-center, giving UCLA a 6-2 lead heading into Oregon’s last at-bat.

Of course, with Rachel Garcia in the circle, it was a three-up and three-down inning as the Bruins captured the series win.

Oregon State Beavers

The Beavers aren’t a very good softball team. They come into this weekend’s series just 15-17 overall and 3-9 in conference play. As a result, none of this weekend’s three games should be in question. The only real questions are: Will the Bruins end each game early with a mercy-rule win? And, if so, what inning will each game end?

Today’s game is the series opener against the Oregon State Beavers at Easton Stadium. The game will not be televised, but live streaming is available. For the first time this season, fans that are guests of players will be allowed to watch the game live. Tickets remain unavailable for sale.
