UCLA Seeded 4th in East Region, Will Face Akron Thursday
The Bruins will open the NCAA Tournament in Portland.
As expected, the UCLA Bruins are going dancing. UCLA earned the 4 seed in the East Region of the NCAA Tournament and will play the Akron Zips on Thursday in Portland, Oregon.
If the Bruins win on Thursday, they will face the winner of St. Mary’s and either Wyoming or Indiana. The latter two teams will play in the First Four.
Assuming UCLA wins their first two games of the tournament, they could end up facing defending champion Baylor, who is the top seed in the East, in the Sweet 16. The East Region also includes the 2 seed Kentucky Wildcats, the 3 seed Purdue Boilermakers, the 6 seed Texas Longhorns, the 8 seed North Carolina Tar Heels, and the 9 seed Marquette Golden Eagles. If Marquette can knock off UNC and win their second round game against Baylor, it could set up a Sweet 16 rematch against the Eagles, whom the Bruins beat in December.
Game time for Thursday’s game against Akron is now set for 6:50 pm PT.

I like our chances against Baylor. If we get there…
Let’s get focused and play our game. Tough D will be required.
