I'm still not sold on Garbers. He's an OK quarterback, perhaps above average by Pac 12 standards, but there's much better in the portal. He played great tonight, but we aren't going to be playing cupcakes next year in the Big 10. UCLA should have an NFL prospect under center at all times.

Expand full comment

Pac12 standards are pretty good this year with Penix, Nix, Williams, Sanders, Cam Ward, Fifita, etc. One heck of a year for QBs.

Expand full comment

Pac-12 had a collection of some of the finest QBs and offenses in the nation. Dante Moore is leaving because Chipster Alfraud failed to develop him. We are losing great players and coaches because of Chipster Alfraud.

UCLA is not a big draw for QBs or any other position - most players are not focused on our prestigious academics or gorgeous campus or location, they want great coaches who will develop them and win BIG. We do not have that with Chipster Alfraud et al.

Pac 12 was very top heavy in QB's. He's above average by Pac 12 standards, but nothing more. He's not an NFL prospect, and a program like UCLA should have NFL prospects starting at QB (Rosen, Hundley, DTR, etc.).

Now, now, now Tamara, you know the Chipster (OG) got a whole box of a dozen jelly donuts care of Donut Dan and Jarhead Jarmond after yesterday's colossal win against that powerhouse Boise St team (minus their starting QB). AND NOW THEY ARE READY! With the Chipster's (OG) first bowl win, this is significant! This program is on its way. Where, you may ask? Not sure, but it's on its way! Sounds like our expert Evan (aka Chipster (OG) and Jarhead Jarmond apologist) doesn't particularly like our QB choices for UCLA's inaugural Big 18 season... Hmm.. Well Evan feels the Chipster (OG) is an excellent recruiter (through the portal only mind you), so it won't be a problem picking up another 4* or 5* from that portal, right Evan! LOL. By the way Evan, how is that Transfer portal working out right now? Oh, we are 21 (Transfer Portal) and 54th overall in recruiting. Looking real good Evan. LOL.

Just excellent, and I thank you from my 💙💛heart for creating such a beautiful vision and moment of what will forever be known as the opening of the 'BOX'...

Ole Chipster Fraud carefully lifting the lid and drowning in the donuts, counting his millions with jelly filled fingers. Perhaps he was even generous enough (for a few seconds) to share the BOX with Jarhead and DD (the original). Legends, all of them.

I will forever be grateful that you so eloquently stated that 'WE ARE NOW READY' and 'ON OUR WAY' to somewhere (otherwise known as 'nowhere') I now am filled with peace.

Thank you BB 💙💛

? the transfer portal barely getting started. very few transfers have committed.

Oh, of course, of course. I'm sure all those 4* and 5* players can't wait to be invited by your boy the Chipster (OG). They all want to play for the Chipster (OG). He should be getting them any day now; you know before Colorado or Ole Miss or Arizona St or those other 20+ teams ahead of UCLA in the Transfer portal.

Right, you are Evan! UCLA is now 28th in the Transfer Portal, they were 21. This is what Evan refers to as "Recruiting Progress". Oh, but it's all just starting, that's right and UCLA is still dropping in those Recruiting rankings. But that's okay, the Chipster (OG) has one more jelly donut... Oops, I mean the Chipster (OG) has lots of moves left to make in this recruiting season. After all, according to Evan, he's one of the best recruiters (and coaches) out there! Let's see how Evan's idol, the Chipster (OG) does.

USC just lost the #1 QB to the portal. who knows, maybe he'll come here

Because of Chip Alford, it doesn't really matter who ends up joining the Bruins at the QB position. They might end up getting frustrated and transfer out becaise no coaching exists to help develop players,. Or if they do stay, they'll be rotated in and out of the lineup because of the indecision and inability to stick with a primary starter. Under Chip Alford, players have to develop and improve on their own, just like DTR did for 5 seasons at UCLA. Their successes make the "offensive genius" look good.

I think Garbers is decent. They won games with him. I would put him between middle and 3/4 of PAC-12 QBs

I'm sorry, I fell asleep at 16-14. Not sure what that huge crowd (32,780) were doing at this time, but I'm confident they were riveted to all that great action. Oh, and the 32,780 is a new LA Bowl record! Last year they got 32,000 for Washington St vs Fresno St. So, the Chipster and Jarhead Jarmond should be very pleased with themselves. Setting those huge attendance record numbers! LOL. The max attendance for SoFi is 70,240. So, it was half full, which is surprising. I thought it would only be about a quarter full. Wonder how many free tickets they gave away, a guess... over 10,000.

The AD wanted it to look like a home game for the Bruins, so the half empty stadium was perfect.

The only thing missing were the Rose Bowl tarps, but maybe they were too cumbersome to transport between Pasadena and the SoFI Stadium...

Happy for the players showing some pride and being able to turn things around in the 2nd half to win the Gronk Bowl. But despite their toilet bowl victory and beating up a lousy U$C team this year, the Bruins' overall season was full of disappointments and lost opportunities, thanks mainly to HC Chip Alford and AD Martin Guerrero. Expect both of them to continue the ongoing mediocrity (or worse) next season.

Expand full comment

Boy, there is so much negativity here, and I get it because I watch the games too. But we go into the bowl game having lost 3 of our last 4 games, top QB recruit leaves, successful defensive coordinator quits, having the best defensive player skip the game, against a team with a three-game winning streak. At halftime, down more than one score, I thought for sure we were dead and why was I wasting my time watching this game? And damn if they didn't pull together saying "not today" and kicked ass.

Yes, we can all guess what next year will be like but enjoy the effort they produced when it would have been so easy to quit.

Well done team, well done.

now now, I am assuming that because you aren't screaming that the sky is falling that you must be a Chip (OG?) apologist. and that is just not acceptable.

We beat a team starting a QB who had never thrown a pass in college before. Let's not read too much into this win, please...

Expand full comment

Yeah, but it's always better to win, no matter who the Bruins face on the field. The occasional and sometimes unexpected victories under Chip Alford can also be very intoxicating, even to non-Chip (OG?) Apologists. The euphoria of this toilet bowl win will last at least until next August 31, when the Bruins face UH in Honolulu, so folks are able to enjoy this aloha feeling until then. Unfortunately, the reality of the continuous mediocrity from Chip Alford will take hold of the football program and firmly reestablish itself again as the new season in the Big10 unfolds.

Evan, no one with any heart will boo Dante Moore. Your beloved Chipster Alfraud failed Dante on every level...

Chipster failed to develop any aspect of Dante's great potential. Chipster failed to create an offensive scheme that embraced Dante's talents. And Chipster failed to recruit and develop an offensive line to protect Dante.

I don't like the Ducks but they have an outstanding Coach and I will be rooting for Dante to have a rewarding college career.

Expand full comment

Well said--Dante is doing what's good for Dante's future, and folks should wish him and any other transfers well, wherever they may go. It's a real shame that he didn't have a good head coach at UCLA. He was just left to sink or swim on his own, and then lost face when his coach gave up on him in the middle of the season. If he earns the starting role at Oregon, I'm sure he'll deliver better performances under a much better coaching staff. If anyone deserves to be booed, it's Chip Alford! (and an additional round of boos for Martin Guerrero!)

It think it's very telling that Moore has already said he's very willing to sit behind Dillon Gabriel (also a portal transfer to Oregon from Oklahoma with 1 year of eligibility remaining) in order to learn and develop and be ready to compete for the starting job the season after. That's quite an indictment of Chip and his coaching staff.

Expand full comment

Chip Alford thought he looked really good by recruiting a 5-star QB, but it eventually backfired on him when he got exposed as a fraudulent "offensive genius" who knows how to coach and develop. Well done coach, well done.

💯 I should know better than to throw myself into the reply column with dumpster fire apologist Evan 🤣 Love your comments BB, they are always spot on 💙💛

Expand full comment

lmao....you have seen me calling for Chip's firing for like 9 months here, right? Or are you on the bandwaggon where anyone who tries to offer objective analysis that does not constitute calling for Chip's tarrring and feathering is automatically a "Chip (OG..lol) apollogist?"

Expand full comment

Evan, although you are accurately describing your attitude (and statements) towards the Chipster (OG), you have also worked tirelessly defending the position to retain the Chipster (OG) as well as defending probably one of the worst Athletic Director's in the country. So, even though you've been asking for the Chipster's (OG) firing, you turn around almost immediately and say, "We have to keep him". You can't have it both ways. In addition, you make an insane claim that this clown show of a coach is a good recruiter, just because he had one good year in the portal last year. Well, looking at UCLA's 2023 football results, how did those portal results turn out? You see, even if you get some good players, you have to COACH THEM! Here is the problem in retaining Kelly, you are sending a message to the other sports teams at UCLA and to UCLA's opponents that this school is good with fielding teams and that's about it. They have no intention of competing for championships, just showing up will be good enough for Jarhead Jarmond. People like this expect Alumni, fans, students, etc. to come out and "pull for their teams", even though their teams have no desire to win and there is no incentive for any of these coaches to win and improve.

Expand full comment

Typical classless Evan comment. So, you will boo the player that got zero support from UCLA as soon as he stepped on the field. Nice. Again, typical Evan with ZERO knowledge of the game and even less knowledge of good talent. That's TWO quality Quarterbacks to the Ducks (a Big-18 competitor) and an opponent next season and ZERO to UCLA. Nice going Evan. Of course, we may get Henry Hasselbeck, son of Matt Hasselbeck and of course a three star (3*). Again, UCLA will not get many (if anymore) 4*'s or 5*'s through either the portal or regular recruiting. No one wants to play for your Chipster (OG). As far as the optimism being attempted here for the future, this team and program has no future and will be lucky to win 3 games next year, but Evan (our resident Chipster (OG) apologist and Jarhead Jarmond fan) says we will "make noise" in the Big-18 next season! LOL. And No, I won't boo a player who did the best he could with no support from our coaching staff or porous offensive line. You can also bet that NO ONE talked to Dante Moore about staying with UCLA, the Chipster (OG) was and is eager to get rid of any players (and coaches) that have promise but require a minimum of support.

At least the Bruins hold the record for the most illegal motion penalties in the first half. I believe if Garber’s hadn’t entered the game when he did, the bruins would’ve lost. Defensively, did Lynn’s play calling make the difference in the amount of yards rushing the bruins allowed? Entering into the

Big 10 next year will be excruciating to watch.
