UCLA Men's Volleyball Looks to End Regular Season with Win over BYU
The Bruins were swept by the Cougars last night, 19-25, 16-25, 17-25
This evening, the UCLA men’s volleyball team hosts the BYU Cougars in the final match of the regular season. Tonight’s match is a home match at Pauley Pavilion and starts at 5 pm PT. While it won’t be televised, it will be livestreamed.
Last Time Out
The Bruins hosted BYU in the penultimate match of the season last night and the Cougars swept UCLA, 19-25, 16-25, 17-25. UCLA had a 13-11 lead in the first set when BYU rattled off a 5-0 run to take a 16-13 lead. But the Bruins managed to tie it back up at 17-17. UCLA collapsed from there when BYU went on an 8-2 run to win the set 25-19.
While the Bruins jumped out ahead 4-0 early, UCLA couldn’t score on consecutive points until the first set point when BYU had a 24-14 lead. After UCLA scored two points, the Cougars picked up the point they needed to win the set, 25-16.
The teams battled back and forth for the first half of the third set and, soon, it was tied 12-12. After UCLA took a 13-12 edge, BYU went on 13-4 run to finish off the set and the match with a 25-17 final score. And, just like that the Cougars swept UCLA, 3-0.
Tonight, the Bruins will look to clinch second place in the MPSF regular season standings when they host BYU again.
