Seems pretty cheap to me, especially in the aftermath of the stunning PSU upset. Makes AD Martin Guerrero look even more dumb/lazy. Maybe the paltry amounts are either from a standard offer in a boilerplate contract that hasn't been changed in decades (who was the last UCLA football HC to be fired midseason?), or the offer actually reflects how little confidence the administration has for these substitutes (i.e., why bother even trying to incentivize them). In any case, the interim coaches may currently be loyal to the Bruin cause with such low compensation in return, but they're gaining valuable experience that could help them land a better job that pays well elsewhere if they're able to win more games for UCLA this season.
Guess I don't know what the typical interim HC makes... but for 3 months it seems high.
We shall see how the season goes... perhaps he will win another 5 games and then my critique of Skippy may soften. He coached a good game but Jerry was great.
Sorry, I was referring mostly to the incentive amounts--I don't know what the typical interim HC base salary is, but Tim Skipper has been an interim HC before, so I Googled his salary at Fresno St. and it says he was getting $700K + $100K in incentives back then.
The last time UCLA replaced a coach mid-season was 1958. I don't think the contract has been sitting around that long.
In fairness, the contact looks pretty standard compared to recent HC contracts except for the dollar amounts and lack of some of the perks (suites, vehicle, etc) which have been provided to previous non-interim HCs.
Valuable information going forward. Thank you Joe.
The entire NCAA landscape is going to be in turmoil when UCLA brings home a Natty with a sub million dollar coach. Undefeated the rest of the way!
$875K for 2.5 months of work to turn this dumpster fire around? Good luck! For that much he doesn't really have to care...
I agree, what a joke paying that much for an interim... for a quarter's work.
Just shows the depths of the dumpster fire and why we are where we are...
Jelly 2.0 sure knows how to hand out the donut dough, like none other.

Time will be our measure...

TMB gets a nod from this writer:

Now, that was very cool to see!
Football Scoop is a site I've read for a long time, but I don't think they've ever mentioned anything I've written before! Thanks for the heads up!

$20k for winning a natty? Some incentive.
Only $10K for winning a natty, but it might as well have been $1 million.
i guess there's no difference. still funny that either party thought it a possibility.
is there a known short list of HC interviews yet?
