UCLA football moved up slightly yesterday when the new Top 25 polls were released. Despite having the weekend off, the Bruins jumped to 21 in this week’s AP poll and 22 in the USA Today Coaches poll after being ranked 23rd in both polls last week.
In addition to that, Oregon, UCLA’s opponent this coming weekend, also moved up several spots to 13 in both polls from 15. This increases the opportunity the Bruins will have if they can walk into Autzen Stadium and come home with a win.
The top five teams in the AP poll remained the same as last week while the top seven stayed the same in the Coaches poll. Apparently, a 32-point win over Rutgers was not enough to prevent Indiana from falling again in the AP poll as the Hoosiers fell behind Alabama to 7th in that poll.
BYU climbed to eighth in both polls, leapfrogging Ole Miss in the AP poll. Texas Tech rose to ninth in the Coaches poll. LSU moved up a spot to tenth in both polls.
As far as other Big Ten schools other than UCLA and Oregon in the Top 25 this week, Southern Cal moved up a spot to 17th in the Coaches poll while falling a spot to 19th in the AP poll. After Iowa lost to Ohio State on Saturday, they fell behind the Trojans in both polls, coming in at 20th in the AP poll and 18th in the Coaches poll. Meanwhile, Penn State and Michigan both dropped out of the Coaches poll.
Four other Big Ten schools received votes in both polls, but did not tally enough points to be ranked this week. They are Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern and Wisconsin.
Here are both complete Top 25 polls:

UCLA’s next game will be on this Saturday, October 10 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon against the #13 Oregon Ducks. Kickoff time is set for 12:30 pm PT and the game will be broadcast on CBS.
Go Bruins!!!
