Sure why not. It's really just a glorified scrimmage right?

Don't count out Coastal Carolina. They won nine of their first ten games last season.

Sure. They are in the Sun Belt Conference, but we almost lost to a Sun Belt team last season.

OK per your post I just did some research and you are right. CC is actually quite good!

Yeah this is what make me nervous about rolling with 3 QBs treating it like a preseason tuneup. These games count, and I don’t know that our talent level is so outrageously different that we can do something like this and not have it come back to bite us. Especially with McCall still leading CCU

I'm hoping that the close call against So. Alabama gets our attention! This game will be on *every* pregame show and pundit's "upset alert" list...

Facing a team with a 5-year starter at QB who was 31-3 before he got hurt at the end of last season, all three leading receivers back and a strong run game with a "Pac 12 After Dark" start time - this matchup scares the heck out of me! I suppose its disappointing but not surprising that he went with the more experienced higher floor/lower ceiling Garbers to start in that scenario - after all, on some level this is "Speight-DTR 2.0", no?

Really excited to see what Dante Moore will bring to the program this year!

It remains to be seen how much time he will see.

Remember, a player can play in as many as four games while still being able to redshirt.

Thought it was only four before redshirting. Did that change this past year?

Nope. My mistake. It is still a maximum of four games. Though last year, the NCAA allowed players who played four games during the regular season to play in a fifth, or even a sixth, game when factoring in postseason games.

I could see a scenario where one of the 3 is named the starter for each of the 3 non-con games (Garbers being 1st up for CCU). I think by gm 4 vs the Utes, Garber's will be named the starter for the rest of the season, unless he really makes a mess Saturday.

As always, whether the defense is improved is going to tell the tale of the season, but IMHO, Moore's upside, if realized, has a better chance to elevate this year's team. That said, a first "real" road start in Salt Lake would be a lot to ask of a true frosh but I'm hopeful that Moore is the type of true frosh that handles a lot to ask!

Not sure that there'll be a lot to show against NC-Central and if there is a plan to play then redshirt Moore, then he really shouldn't see the field in that game...
