The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award Watch List is out this morning and UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been named to the list. It’s the second watch list to include DTR who was also named to the Maxwell Award Watch List yesterday.

The Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award is presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback and is the oldest and most prestigious national quarterback award. The Davey O’Brien Award honors candidates who exemplify Davey O’Brien’s enduring character while exhibiting teamwork, sportsmanship and leadership in both academics and athletics. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has awarded more than $1.2 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.

UCLA’s only Davey O’Brien Award winner was Troy Aikman in 1988.

Today’s watch list includes 30 of the nation’s best quarterbacks.

Appearing on the Watch List is not a requirement for a player to win the Davey O’Brien Award. Quarterbacks from all 128 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) schools are eligible for the award.

Sixteen semifinalists for the award will be named on Thursday, November 10. From that list, the Foundation and the Selection Committee will announce the three finalists on Tuesday, November 22. The 2016 Davey O’Brien Award winner will be announced live Thursday, December 8 on The Home Depot College Football Awards. The 40th Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Sixteen semifinalists selected for the award will be named on Monday, November 8. From that list, the Foundation and the Selection Committee will announce the three finalists on Monday, November 22. The 2021 Davey O’Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Thursday, December 9, during The Home Depot College Football Awards. Fan voting on social media will again play a role in the semifinalist, finalist and winner voting totals when combined with the national selection committee’s ballots.

The 45th Annual Davey O’Brien Awards Dinner is scheduled for Monday, February 21, 2022, in Fort Worth, Texas.

UCLA Will Need To Move Forward Without Jaylen Clark
The forward's status for the rest of the season is still in doubt, but the Bruins have faced adversity before.
