Washington is favored by 3.5. But, the over under is 65. So bettors are expecting a close shootout. Personally I am expecting a Bruin win due to home field. Go Bruins!
While I have much faith in Chip, at least as an offensive coordinator and offensive recruiter, count me as one who doesn't expect a W. Our D will be exposed. Wouldn't be surprised if we gave up 38 or more points. I hope I'm wrong.
Remember, Vegas lines are mainly about trying to get an equal amount bet on both sides of a proposition so they take the 10% from all bets...
Given that, right now, UDub hasn't recently been a "known quantity" like say Utah or Oregon; that their one impressive win over a ranked Michigan State looks less impressive after Minnesota rowed their boat up and down the field against Sparty last Saturday - they were up 31-0 with a minute left; and that the last time these coaching staffs - more or less - faced off, DeBoer's team won by 3 at the Rose Bowl... I can see why Vegas "thinks" - and perceives that "the public" will think - this is a one-score game with us as a slight home dog...
Kelly's contract would have expired at the the end of this season; Jarmond instead extended him for another 3 seasons. The next 3 games could be a good indicator as to whether or not Jarmond made the right decision for the football program. If the Bruins flat line and lose the next 3 games, Jarmond should start thinking about giving away tickets to the home games otherwise the Rose Bowl might be completely empty for the rest of the season, not counting the USC game.
Jarmond did the extension because it would have been hard to justify letting Chip go after an 8-4 season that did represent a noticeable improvement on previous years. He also essentially had to do an extension because not doing so would have made Chip a lame duck and risked doing a whole bunch of damage to the program. At the same time, the extension was written to have a much, much more manageable buyout compared to the previous option; now if UCLA wants to get rid of Kelly, they'd only owe about $4 million, which is chump change in the grand scheme of college football these days. It basically turned this into a prove-it year for Kelly, where a failure or a step back would more than justify letting him go.

Surprised the line is this close for the game. Concerned about our defense at every level as well as their o line.
Other than UW having a depleted secondary what am I missing on this one?
seriously. i'm shocked by that line. we should be 10 point dogs at least.

Other schools know how to recruit coaches, other schools had ADs who cared.
we now have a great AD. hopefully he does the right thing when it is time to replace Chip.

Gotta stop thinking about the extension this way.

so you would have fired Kelly after last season? Wtf?
