And according to BRO tweet, Clancy Pendergast is not a candidate to replace him. My optimism meter for next season has gone way up!

So it seems we’re looking outside for the new DC?

A Wooden 56-year season ticket holder who would not have renewed had he stayed. A great relief for a program still somewhat in turmoil.

Write Chip a new contract heavily ladden with incentives. None of us objects to rewarding a man for helping win a Pac Title, winning the Grand Daddy of Them All, winning the College Football Semi Final, or even The FINAL. Bring Chip back since his pal decided to fall on his sword. Let us HAPPILY PAY FOR ACTUAL ACHIEVEMENT. Bring Chip back with incentives that make him the best paid coach. In America, when our objectives are achieved. 2 to 3 year extension. Go Bruins!

I think he’s getting an extension. Hopefully it’ll be with a ton of incentives.

Exactly- I hope recruiting is part of the bonus structure. Will wait to see what happens with Chip but it’s looking like Jarmond knows what he’s doing.

it's been in the works for weeks. assuming he gets a small bump in annual salary to like $5 mil over 4 or 5 years.

Never felt this great about eliminating such incompetence from a UCLA coaching staff since the Bruins rid themselves of Alford!

I refused to even WATCH Bruins basketball when Alford was coaching. And now, UCLA has the bright, shining, Wooden-level-decency coach, Mick Cronin! Things can get better for UCLA Football Bruins, too! (Here's hoping that Chipper makes a good decision here).

Thank F'n goodness. I wonder if this was forced on Kelly because I doubt Azzinaro had it in him to do the honorable thing. Either way, it's about 2 years past time.

And the Denver Broncos just canned Vic Fangio. He's a A+ defensive coordinator who was awful as a head coach. Come on football gods, just one move would fix both my teams at once!

It will be interesting to find out who we end up getting...maybe your dream scenario will come true!

Coach Azz resigned...yeah, yeah....that's the ticket. He resigned....

Wonder who told him he is going to "resign", Kelly or Jarmond?

Jon Lovitz? I'm guessing that it was addressed in contract negotiations with Chip Kelly and Jarmond. There is still no agreement as of yet, so who knows?

There's no way to justify such a horrendous performance year in and year out on D. Once teams caught on that the team can only get any kind of pressure with all out blitzes, had no gap discipline, and used Tom Bradley level cushions, it was over.

wonder if Ikaika Malloe is our next DC

Looks like Jimmy Lake is the favorite. That would be a great hire. Also just got a nice WR transfer from UCF today.

I see from the comments some possibilities people have floated for the next DC. I see that Ken Norton Jr. just became available. I'm not saying he's the guy UCLA should hire as DC, but what is the general consensus on him as a candidate?
