UCLA Football Announces Future Schedule Changes
Bye, Georgia and Auburn. Hello, Utah, UC Berkeley and UC Davis.
When UCLA Football joins the Big Ten this season, the Bruins will be playing one of the toughest schedules in the country.
With SEC schools Georgia and Auburn scheduled for future games, UCLA’s schedules looked to be even harder in the coming seasons. Or, at least, that was the case until today.
That’s because UCLA has cancelled both of their scheduled home-and-home series with the Bulldogs and Tigers, which were scheduled for 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028. According to an official release from UCLA, both series were cancelled by mutual agreement.
In place of those games, UCLA announced a home-and-home series against former Pac-12 foe Utah and one against the UC Berkeley Golden Bears. The Utah games will take place at the Rose Bowl on August 30, 2025 and in Salt Lake City on September 7, 2030.
Meanwhile, the Bruins and the Bears have agreed to meet four times. While I’ve previously suggested that this series should be played for the “Governor’s Trophy” or, at least, the [UC] “President’s Trophy,” maybe it should be called the “Calimony Cup” moving forward.
In addition to taking home some sort of trophy/cup, if Berkeley wins, they get their Calimony and if the Bruins win, they would owe nothing. The series returns with game in Berkeley on September 5, 2026 and September 2, 2028 while the Bruins will host the Bears at the Rose Bowl on September 4, 2027 and September 15, 2029.
The Bruins have also added a pair of home dates against UC Davis for August 28, 2027 and September 1, 2029.
UCLA still looks to have one slot to schedule for 2028 as they only have non-conference games scheduled at Berkeley and at home against Hawai’i. If I had to guess, I would expect that slot, and other future non-conference slots, to be scheduled against former Pac-12 schools as the non-conference schedule shifts from a national focus to more of a regional focus. I won’t be surprised to see the Arizona schools, Colorado or the Pac-2 schools Oregon State and Washington State scheduled in the future.
Finally, it looks like 2029 and 2030 home-and-home series against Wisconsin has been removed from the schedule. That doesn’t mean that the teams won’t meet those years now that they are conference opponents. It does, however, look like the dates previously listed as September 15, 2029 and September 2, 2030 will be changing at the very least. The 2029 date is now occupied by one of the home games against UC Berkeley while the 2030 Utah game probably necessitates a replacement game be scheduled earlier since September 2nd is Labor Day and the team would otherwise have a really short week to prepare for the Utes.

Those schedules are brutal. It's going to be many years before the Bruins are competitive in the BIG 10, sadly.
I am very disappointed. I was looking forward for years to the Georgia and Auburn games.
