Spaulding Report: UCLA Football Week Two Media Interviews
As you wait for today's game to kickoff, we've gathered all of this week's UCLA Football interviews for you in one place.
Let’s take a quick peek at what’s been getting said at this week’s UCLA football press conferences. I’m just going to share these here all in the same place to make it easy for our readers to watch them if you haven’t already. The videos in this article are courtesy of UCLA Athletics on YouTube unless noted otherwise.
We’ll begin with Chip Kelly’s two interviews. First, we have his Monday morning interview. One of the first things Kelly addressed was about the team practicing on Sunday instead of taking that day off. Conversely, that means they needed to take Thursday off due to NCAA regulations. He also discussed the effect of the new rule which doesn’t stop the clock automatically after first downs until the last two minutes of each half. Finally, he was asked about the best way to clean up the defensive offsides penalties. Kelly said they’d rather err on being aggressive on the front.
Chip Kelly also spoke with the media on Wednesday. He mostly answered a lot of questions about different guys on the team.
Shifting to the players, Jaylin Davies and Carsen Ryan met with the media on Sunday after the team’s Sunday practice. Both guys spoke about Saturday’s game. Davies was asked about his interception against Coastal Carolina. In Ryan’s case, he spoke about scoring his first college touchdowns.
On Monday, receiver Ryan Cragun and running back TJ Harden spoke. Cragun discussed his transition from the Ivy League’s Penn to the Bruins while Harden offered his opinions on last week’s game.
Finally, we have defensive linemen Keanu Williams and Dovid Magna. Williams was immediately asked about his transition from Oregon to Westwood. He was also asked about Ken Norton yelling “200 yards!” to the linebackers, referencing the SDSU rushing attack. It’s good to hear that stopping the ground game is at the top of the coaches’ and players’ minds. Magna was asked about SDSU’s running game and the 2019 loss to the Aztecs. Both players were asked about playing aggressively vs. causing offsides penalties.
That wraps up this week’s media interviews. UCLA’s game against San Diego State kicks off this afternoon at 4:30 pm PT at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.

Joe,
We are in the midst of a urination contest between Spectrum and the scroungy, greedy little rat (Disney) over who will receive their precious little ESPN sports broadcasts. I despise both outlets but despise Spectrum much, much less (for political reasons). As it stands now, Disney has ripped ESPN off of Spectrum so -- succinctly to the group mind -- how much will this bump the FB and BBall (well, FBall for the moment) off a casual viewer's enjoyment of Bruin sports?
To quote the foiled bank robber in the opening scenes of Dirty Harry, "Ah got's ta know!"
