Spaulding Report: UCLA Football Week Six Media Interviews
As you wait for today's game to kickoff, we've gathered all of this week's UCLA Football interviews for you in one place.

Let’s take a quick peek at what’s been getting said at this week’s UCLA football press conferences. I’m just going to share these here all in the same place to make it easy for our readers to watch them if you haven’t already. The videos in this article are courtesy of UCLA Athletics on YouTube unless noted otherwise.
On Monday, UCLA head coach Chip Kelly spoke about how UCLA changed holders for last week’s game. On the play of the defense, Kelly said, “I think our defense played outstanding.”
He also spoke about kicker Blake Glessner now being the holder. Interestingly, UCLA’s depth chart which was released on Monday (or last week’s either) does not reflect the change to Glessner as the holder. Kelly said:
Blake is a tremendous athlete. He may be one of the better athletes on this football team. He could play wide receiver for us. He could play DB for us. He's a really talented player. So, [we’re] just trying to exploit some of his athleticism because the biggest thing with a holder is, if the play breaks down, what do they do? And that's sometimes, I think, the issue when you don't want to have a kicker or a punter be the holder because, if the play breaks down, what he can do? But, I think, with Blake, if for some reason, there was an errant snap or the play broke down that he could do something with it because of his athleticism.
On Wednesday, much of Chip’s interview focused on Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. Specifically, he spoke a little about UCLA’s plan to contain him. Kelly said:
He’s a Cam Newton type guy and it's going to take more than one guy. are we specific in terms of our containment of the quarterback and are we not losing any gaps on them? And, then, making sure that there's multiple guys trying to take him down but he's a gang TP gang tackle type of quarterback because of his size.
Moving over to the players, Jordan Anderson & Oluwafemi Oladejo spoke to the media on Monday. Both guys talked about the overall play of the defense this season as well as last weekend.
Tuesday saw tight end Moliki Matavao and Darius Muasau speaking. Matavo spoke about the growth of Dante Moore and the growing pains the team has had on offense. Meanwhile, Muasau spoke about how he feels like the defense is just starting to gel together.
Finally this week, we have Carsen Ryan. Among the things Ryan spoke about was last week’s game and how he thought he made the catch in the end zone against Washington State.
That wraps up this week’s media interviews. UCLA visits the Oregon State Beavers this evening at 5:00 pm PT.
