UCLA DT Osa Odighizuwa Selected by Cowboys in 3rd Round
The Cowboys picked him with the 75th overall pick.
With the 75th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys have selected Osa Odighizuwa.
The Cowboys are getting a beast for the defensive line with the selection of Odighizuwa. He was a big part of the resurgence of the UCLA defense last season.
He started his final 24 games with the Bruins, stretching back to his sophomore year. This past season, he was fifth in the Pac-12 with an average of 0.57 sacks per game, totalling 4.0 sacks for the season. For the past two seasons, he’s been the top tackler on the Bruin defensive line.
His NFL.com draft profile says he has a “combination of size and athletic ability that lands him somewhere between base end and three-technique. Odighizuwa has experience playing in just about every alignment imaginable, so he could be ahead of the game from a playbook standpoint. He plays with excellent first-step quickness and good bend that gives him the early advantage as a gap worker and pass rusher.”
That’s a pretty accurate description of Odighizuwa.
By selecting him with a third round pick, he may be a guy that the Cowboys look to develop. With Osa’s work ethic, he may eventually turn into a starter for Dallas or another team.
Congratulations, Osa!
Go Bruins!!!
