Am I a fool for thinking we somehow have a chance in this one?

ArmyBruin's avatar

No, but we need to tackle something.

gbruin's avatar

A tale of 2 halves -we're down to one score!

The War Planner's avatar

Over a decade in the making, but potentially Dorrell's revenge.

orlandobruin's avatar

The tackling is just sooo bad. Two or three missed tackles every rushing play!

gbruin's avatar

Pretty soft late hit call, but we're committing way too many penalties. Can't have that poor discipline.

gbruin's avatar

Man, they just marched that down our throats.

Joe Piechowski's avatar

Touchdown, Keegan Jones!

gbruin's avatar

The offense figured some stuff out at halftime.

harrybruin's avatar

One thing they figure out... Colorado isn't that good.

gbruin's avatar

I hope someone told the *efense the same thing.

harrybruin's avatar

Hmm. Well maybe we can win this.

Runfastandwin's avatar

If we can get a stop. This game looks like it’s headed to 100 points...

Joe Piechowski's avatar

Well, if you had the Over, you've made some money tonight! The Over/Under was just 56.5 points.

Runfastandwin's avatar

I gave up betting on UCLA years ago...I just don’t have the juice for it...considering our defense though I’d a thought 56.5 was for the Buffs!

gbruin's avatar

I'm going to drive to Boulder and tie Azzinaro to the damn Flatirons.

orlandobruin's avatar

3rd and 14. 3rd and 12. Doesn't matter with this sieve of a D.

orlandobruin's avatar

Reverse jinx! Fail on 3rd and 8. Hold 'em to 3.

Runfastandwin's avatar

Field goal. That’s something I guess.

gbruin's avatar

Agreed. Says a lot that that was a success.

orlandobruin's avatar

Third Q was a net positive.

gbruin's avatar

DTRs footwork is such a circus

gbruin's avatar

I'd go for it on this 4th and half yard to go.

Runfastandwin's avatar

Go for it. We don’t want no stinking FG attempt.

Runfastandwin's avatar

Terrible play calling.

gbruin's avatar

jfc if you're going up the middle you can't snap it backward 5 yards to start the play and hand it to a RB who is standing still. Take the snap under center and hand it to someone going forward or run a QB dive. Moronic play call.

TxBruinFan's avatar

Should have been Dolcich over the middle....he's been open all jight

gbruin's avatar

It's a great idea but I wouldn't trust DTRs arm and reads on a play like that. I would definitely trust him to run it as runfastandwin and I called for.

TxBruinFan's avatar

Good point....he has jerked several easy tosses behind wide open receivers

harrybruin's avatar

Well, it worked when they ran it against our defense in practice. ZZzzzzz.

Runfastandwin's avatar

DTR STILL hasn’t learned how to not run backwards. Ugh.

gbruin's avatar

Agreed. The fundamental flaws are so frustrating. He's a tough kid and a great athlete, but he ought to be so much more polished in his 3rd year.

harrybruin's avatar

Actually I was just going to write "one step forward, two steps back" for DTR. But that's metaphorical.

gbruin's avatar

And the commentator hears you

gbruin's avatar

Yay. Back to back holding penalties.

gbruin's avatar

And a throw 2 yds behind an open receiver. Hit him in stride and he's still running, but it's another TO on downs instead.

gbruin's avatar

I keep critiquing DTR, but it's a lot more than just him tonight though. Too many penalties. Dumb play calls. Turnovers. The *efense is still utterly terrible. We were picked over CU in preseason polls. Not.

We may be glad it's a shortened season. Who wants to see 12 games of this?

harrybruin's avatar

Very little to like in what we've seen tonight. The disappointing senior QB is also the best thing on offense tonight? (Oh, maybe Felton). The world-class coach is going to continue to destroy our FB program.

gbruin's avatar

Felton looks like he could be special, but there's no consistency around him. Other teams will earn quickly to just key on him and keep DTR from scrambling.

gbruin's avatar

Big props to the FG defense team and whoever coaches that unit, though.

gbruin's avatar

He was down. We should get that ball back.

And as TxBruin called it, Dulcich was open across the middle again.

TxBruinFan's avatar

He looks down (Melsby was down, too)

Dimitri Dorlis's avatar

Easy way to farm likes here is to state a clear fact.

harrybruin's avatar

Highlights of the night: 1) blocked field goals and 2) video review shows we didn't fumble.

gbruin's avatar

SPTRs have been less S than usual tonight.

TxBruinFan's avatar

Good run by DTR....and slide

Runfastandwin's avatar

To me the main takeaway is being unable to convert on 4th down. Twice.

harrybruin's avatar

Careless turnovers, too.

orlandobruin's avatar

That 4th and 1 call to the big back after a TO was too obvious of a play call.

gbruin's avatar

TD! Barely - almost missed the wide open/uncovered TE

TheCheetah's avatar

If it weren't for the turnovers today....

TxBruinFan's avatar

Is there such a thing as an ugly TD throw?

gbruin's avatar

6 point game with 1:45 left

gbruin's avatar

See that, ASU? smfh

harrybruin's avatar

Pathetic. See you later down the Bruin road. Congrats to Karl.

TxBruinFan's avatar

Thank you all....be well and Go Bruins!

gbruin's avatar

Same old problems with 4 TOs thrown in. What a waste.

Anyway, it was great to be in a game thread with some Bruins. Have a good week everyone. We'll try again next week.

orlandobruin's avatar

Utah State fired their Coach after a 0-3 start tonight. Utah State has more pride in and expectations for their football program than UCLA.

orlandobruin's avatar

Well, I have one of my PGGs for next week. These Bruins have made a habit of making no-name players into household names over the last several years. This week it was Broussard. Which Utah player will have a career day against UCLA next week?
