He explained that, basically, he and Chancellor Frenk agreed that it is more important for him to get to work than to spend time now negotiating a contract. I suspect that when they do put ink to paper, he will either get a contract that's retroactive to the start of his term or receive some sort of signing bonus intended to compensate him for that time.
TRUE! When I was a student starting in 1973 all the football games AND transportation were free. Basketball too as far as free entrance. What a hoot back then.

Before I graduated in 1982 - UCLA students attended these events for FREE! Tim Harris remembers this and has brought back a tradition. Go Bruins!
So, it was likely Pete Dalis who broke that tradition after he became AD in 1983.
