Am I the only one who came away more concerned about this game than everyone else? It felt like the refs were trying to bury Stanford early with some questionable penalties. The procedural errors I understand, but it felt like every time Stanford was starting to put a drive together or get a stop there was a questionable holding call.

Fina got manhandled a couple of times in pass pro...and frankly I’m still concerned about the offensive line. I do wonder how much trouble Dante would have had tonight vs Chase but Garbs did all the right things. Happy for the guy and I hope this helps Dante’s development. Nice to see us getting the ball more to J. Mike and Ford. Chip might be right about us having the deepest TE room in the country.

Defense looked solid and I’m really encouraged by how much the secondary has improved this year. Ramsey is a gamer and I’m glad we have him at the starting safety spot. Our front seven...running out of words to describe them.

I guess we should be happy that we didn’t go through what Washington went through last night. Let’s take care of business against Colorado next week.

I agree with you there were some things like penalty wise that killed a bit of that pressure that Stanford could have mounted. Nonetheless, last week UCLA also got called some iffy calls that went against them and were pretty much in the game until late 3rd quarter. I think, it’s safe to say that a more seasoned Moore, or a better game manager quarter like Garber last weekend would have probably gave UCLA a better chance to win closer to the end of the game. Even with all of the bad offensive of line blocking and negatives, I think that this team will meet expectations laid out at the beginning of the season. I might be wrong but 5-2 with a real chance at a Rose Bowl appearance with little over half way through the season - it is still within reach.

I can confidently state that UCLA will not go to the Rose Bowl this year.

Because it’s hosting a CFP semifinal, you see.

Moore has the talent and is going to be a very good QB, but the jump from high school to Division I is huge and almost wish he had been redshirted this year. The mistakes didn't just cost points, they were demoralizing. Garbers isn't spectacular but has had solid moments when given the opportunity.

I agree it's a huge jump and Moore was put in high pressure situations at Utah and Oregon State. I do believe Moore's mistakes could have been reduced if we had a better offensive line and the play calling complimented his unique talents and skills.

Coaching and recruiting played a major factor in Moore's struggles, imho. Whenever a player needs to ask a Coach to run and not run certain plays, that is a red flag.

I hope Moore is given the chance to start against Colorado as a home game could really help build his confidence. I agree with your assessment of Garbers - he was efficient and got the job done.

There’s a HUGE difference between playing Utah and OSU versus Stanford. I’m happy for Garbers, but let’s not read too much into it. On a side note, SC lost to a walk-on QB named Barnes. Deja Vu all over again.

Ahhh yes, I remember QB Barnes with JJ Stokes - what a game that was against suc. That was a classic for sure!

I remain confused about Chip's "thinking" (and I use that term lightly here) on QB starters. Against Top 15 team's defenses, Moore did not look good yet Chip failed to bench him and put in Garbers. Okay, then, don't want to mess with his confidence, cool, gotcha.... then for the get-right game of the year against the arguably worst team in the remnants of the Pac12, Chip benches Moore and only plays him for 1 minute or so? Really?? Just what is the thinking here, cuz I certainly do not get it!
