I would rather anticipate a looooooong season, in your word, during which myriad issues, obstacles can be ironed out and overcome to pave the way for many productive seasons under DeShawn Foster. Never would we want to experience again the prolonged, ugly growing football pain inflicted by his predecessor. He was lucky Block and Jarmond had the unthinkable patience to tolerate him for as long as they did. He will now a problem for the Buckeyes in my view. If he ever thought Columbus was another college campus, most likely his very last stop in his quest to build up his retirement porfolio before old age sets in, he would be in for a big surprise.

We will see how Chip does, but this might be the perfect place for him. A roster stacked with top end talent and an existing coaching staff and structure. Chip just gets to scheme the offense without any of those other worries. Of course, the expectation is every game is a win by 21+ points, so there is that pressure.

I am not sure if I, nor anyone, would agree with your statement that it takes a talented roster, good coaching staff and everything in harmony for him to do well. Minus any of that, he simply cannot function well ? Is that what we call coaching in this day and age ? Between you and I, we need to survey all the existing NCAA coaches to see what they think because many of them, to my knowledge, do compete in less than perfect settings. They coach with what they have. Win or lose, their teams perform respectfully. If Chip Kelly can only win under perfect circumstances, then UCLA has been had by a great con artist as I stated all along, vicious counter statements notwithstanding.

I respectfully disagree that Coach Fos is a 'bridge' coach. I believe he will be Head Coach at UCLA for the long run just as Terry Donahue was so many years ago.

In a previous post I commented:

So far, Coach Fos has done an outstanding job. He has done everything he could and beyond to fix the mess Chipster Alfraud left. He filled the holes with good players. He is doing an outstanding job recruiting high schoolers. He has instilled discipline, enthusiasm and respect - his pillars of success. He has brought back tradition and engaged the donors, students, alums and general fans! He hired outstanding coaches. Obviously we shall see how the season progresses, and this year may be a challenge. But I believe Coach Fos will he very successful.

Many of you are die hard Cronin advocates despite his terrible record against Gonzaga and Arizona and in the old Pac-12 tourney, and his abyssmal season last year - highlighted by his traditional verbal tirades against his players. I don't like Cronin as a person... But I do credit him with bringing in an awesome class through the portal and high school and If the chemistry is right and Cronin becomes a bit more flexible, I do believe we have the potential for a great, great season.

Many of you appear to be negative about Coach Fos and his team hasn't even played one game. I actually believe this team is under-rated and will surprise many 💙💛

You and I are on the same page regarding DeShawn Foster. Initially he may be struggling as someone starting from scratch. This is expected. But give him time to learn and he will learn fast on the job. He was a fabulous player then and he will become a fabulous coach in due time.

Curious what he has done to cause you to believe he will be here for the long run. UCLA was fairly open about him being a bridge coach. Unless we and he catch lightning in a bottle, he's a bridge coach. Even if he's the next Nick Saban, he's not exactly going to get a shot to showcase that here with the talent on this roster.

Evan being Evan. I gave you a ton of reasons. Ok Evan give me exact quotes and sources that prove your claim that UCLA has made it clear that he is a bridge coach. Thanks.

I don't believe he would even know where to find the exact quotes, if any, to back up what he said. Forget it. Let the fact speaks for itself. How he and his fellow Chip apologists defended Kelly the con artist to the tragic end still traumatizes this web page.

I’m looking forward to this season. I don’t have particularly high expectations, but hope Coach Foster brings a new sense of momentum and energy to the team. What he’s accomplished already in changing the direction of recruiting is refreshing, but I think it’s way too early to pick if he’s an interim or longer term solution. Chip left the cupboard pretty bare, so I think anything above .500 will only be through the team buying into CF and finding some emotion to lift.

Not sad to see Chip go, but fear we’ll be subject to stories praising his offensive genius in the very different circumstances in OSU. He seems set up for success in the short term, but taking high level talent and scheming game wins is a long way from building a program which he never did. Not sure if OSU expect him to recruit or if part of the deal is that he can just focus on Xs and Os.

Of course in my alternative world of College Football 25, my Bruins are headed to a National Championship under HC Jerry Neu 😀

Also a bit bummed I’m on a plane when UCLA takes on Hawaii, so will miss the first game.

I commented enough about the con artist coach. It is time we wipe him out of our collective memories.
