I wish there was a replay somewhere. Jules not performing well strikes me as ok for now. This team doesn’t seem to have an alpha scorer which I’m ok with. Jules can take charge when he needs to, but the fact that he hasn’t had to is good because the others need the experience too... here’s hoping UCLA keeps it up
I'm not sure I've ever personally witnessed better coaching than the last two years. Mick is a master. He took over a squad that had such bad habits, that they were 9 and 9 at this time last year. He got them to buy in, and they went on a terrific streak. They were poised to take the Pac12 tourney and go deep in the NCAAs. He did this with the same kids. He didn't pull a Howland and drive multiple kids away. He converted them and developed them.
Now that squad lost their only starting senior and instead of a drop off, we see an improvement. Top to bottom of the line-up! Everyone has been developed into a contributor, including Kenneth Nwuba. Can anyone honestly have thought that we would have swept in the desert with Nwuba having to play significant minutes at McKale? Mick has them roling. He has turned Campbell into a difference maker, a star, he dominated the floor the last two games. Smith out, Campbell up. And the rest of the team has filled right in as well. Juzang needed to be a significant offensive contributor, and in the last two games he now is.
All through the CSA years, I complained about not feeding the post. I complained about not feeding Tom Welsh in the post and others would say he wasn’t a post player, which was true. That being said, I can’t help but think how much different that would have been with the current staff. Coach Savino would have made that happen. Coaching matters. We can see it with the improved post play from Cody Riley. This staff is doing a fine job and making UCLA Basketball relevant again.
I believe in developing players and line the idea of a 7 footer playing closer to the basket, plus he would/could have excelled at the high post. I think it would have been more beneficial than having him shoot 3s. It also keeps the big guy closer for offensive rebounds. Just my take.

Why would you need to feed Thomas Welsh in the post and not at the Welsh Memorial 15 Foot Baseline Jumper spot?

Sorry, was being sarcastic.
You got me! Plus, think how good Gigi could have been!
The biggest crime in recent UCLA history was that GG was forced to try and prop up a bad coach.
Alfraud was such a dunce! He tried making Cody into a stretch 4 and had him shooting threes when his strength is in the post.
