Trap game maybe? Pre-Arizona, against a shorthanded ASU? Just seemed really off. I really like the way Juzang looks on the court and the way he plays the game. Good body language and looks like he wants to make things happen. He just needs to start actually putting the ball through the basket. Both he and Kyman look like they think their value is tied to their scoring, and they're shooting the ball like it's a medicine ball, not a basketball. Putting way too much pressure on themselves.

bruinballer had a great comment at the end of the game thread writing that it never occurred to him we would lose this game under Cronin, which was a different feeling than under the previous regime. In looking back, I totally agree with that. Last night was always like, ok, buckle down Bruins, get a stop, then go execute on offense, and let's get out of here with a win. And that's what happened. There are a lot of reasons this game was a mess (TOs, poor shooting, missed FTs at the end, etc...) and got to OT, but I never really thought that we would lose it.

I'd love for our team to be more "pro" and just come out and cooly execute perfect basketball regardless of the circumstances or the opponent, but actual professional teams battle this issue themselves, and these are just 18-22 year old kids, so I get it. I trust Cronin to keep pushing to get the best out of this team when their best is needed. It was barely enough last night, but that's tons better than we saw the years before and reflects a better character and work ethic of this team and its coach.

Let's regroup and be good enough against the standard (insert actual eye roll here) and move forward.

And...RIP, Tommy.

Bonus shout out to Dave Pasch - besides being a great play-by-play guy and the perfect foil to my hero Bill Walton's lovable looniness, he is also the team play-by-play guy for the Arizona Cardinals (whom I hate for screwing Josh Rosen, but that's another topic). His call for the Hail Murray game winner in mid November was really sweet.

UCLA won ugly again. They played without heart but gutted it out. Campbell is so up and down. When the rest of the team isn’t shouldering the load, he takes shots when he shouldn’t.

The reffing was awful. UCLA received the brunt of most awful calls while asu received them in the second. It’s like the refs are constantly trying to make up for prior bad calls. Here’s a concept, don’t make stupid calls in the first place

The technical on asu player after the dunk seemed harsh. Who knows if he said anything, but it certainly didn’t look like much more then you’d see in any game. Who knows, I’ve never reffed basketball, and I’m sure it’s tough, but these refs have been so awful all season and it’s not new
