So looking forward to the matchup with Kentucky. I don't know if Bona is ready for the challenge with Tshiebwe, but if he can stay in the flow of the game without getting in foul trouble while making a positive impact defensively and on the boards, this could be the game where he steps up to being a genuine problem for other teams. Considering he's got all of 10 college games under his belt, he's ahead of the curve, but it would be damn awesome if he could turn into a beast. He's going to have to become a beast if we expect to take down Arizona and their two-headed monster in Tubelis and Ballo.
It's good to see Jaime play some defense. He's gonna need that same intensity when he goes up against Toppin. Clark should wrap up Wallace. If the Bruins play at the same level as they did against Maryland and come up strong at the opening tip and the freshmen continue to raise their games, they got a great chance of getting back into the top 10.
So does Oscar Tshiebwe. He was last year's college POY so he ain't chopped liver. He rebounds like a beast, especially on the offensive glass, and he fly swats a lot of attempts at the rim. But unlike our past centers (Riley, Hill RIP, Brown) who probably would have zero impact on Tshiebwe, Bona just might be good enough to keep Tshiebwe occupied. The lack of experience will likely result in a few mistakes by Bona, but if he can limit those mistakes and stay on the floor by staying out of foul trouble, Bona can definitely impact the game. IMO this could be a coming of age game for Bona and he could put himself on the map in terms of national recognition.
Yes, misterioso, now we see how Bona (and the team) handle an established big. Hoping the best. Go Bruins! I hate the rankings, they just put a bullseye on your chest. I wanna see last night's team in the Tournament.
If the Bruins made an omelet out of Denver, then they made turtle soup out of the Terrapins. Final scores for both games were nearly identical as well. It's only mid-December, so hoping they get even better. I really look forward to their next challenge against Kentucky too. GO BRUINS!!!
Did someone re-animate "Coach"? Seriously, Cronin's team last night had that certain "sparkle" and aggressiveness reminiscent of Coach Wooden's teams as I recall. (My codger memory fogs, but those years images remain transfixed). After all the heartbreak of poor coaching hires, this guy's a keeper.
Whoda thunk a [recent] Bruin team would go into the enemy's house and beat down a #20 ranked opponent like that? Imagine doubling up on Maryland 72-36 at the 8:23 mark? Hell, the Bruins were up by 30 or more points until 2:20 so stunning was their shock and awe! These kids are hungry!
Cronin's the real deal after and has been in his years of coaching; sure glad he's on our side.
Was a great game. Cronin did a great job in this game. Never letting Maryland get back into the game.
I think it’s more than a little concerning that ucla played some of their best defense and best offense with tyger on the bench in the first half. He also had the same number of assists that nwuba had. It may not have been different if he didn’t get into foul trouble, but the bruins have proven they don’t need him to be the leader and certainly don’t need him shooting 15-20 shots a game like we saw in earlier games.
This team is so deep right now as well. How many teams have 11 players that need minutes? The garbage time crew are the 12-14 players off the bench… that’s nuts
This was a game ucla absolutely needed to win in order to prove they belong in the top 10. If they can bring the same intensity on Saturday, they have a great shot to win. Looking forward to more crow… and less tyger too
Was thinking the same thing watching the big surge in the first half with Tyger on the bench. We need Tyger for his experience, especially against Kentucky, but he is a weak link on defense and his shooting has slumped with the pressure to shoot more and he is out of his normal rhythm. Would not be surprised to see that same line up, without Tyger, if the offense goes flat.
Tyger is a very good and valuable player. The real good news is that we have serious depth behind him. Several different players initiated the offense last night, including Jaquez. I think that we will enjoy Dylan Andrews for a few years. McClendon is getting his legs. It wasn’t that Cronin coached a good game “last night.” Last night was the result of practice and preparation over several weeks.
I have confidence in our Cronin coached basketball team than the football team coached by
" whatyoumightcallit ". We are and will be unrelenting in our efforts to get him out. His defenders will find out soon. On the other hand, from what I saw, the swagger, the grit, the killer instincts and that determination to demolish anything, anybody standing in their way basically foretell what the forthcoming season would be like.
Great write up again, Dmitri! To me Bona's break out was the most heartening. He actually found the hole! We knew Jaime, Jaylen and David could do it and they did. Bona on the other hand finally did something right in a big way! The team really put on a nice show for us. I hope they don't forget what they were doing. Playing MD at MD and kicking hiney is an accomplishment. Go Bruins! Stay healthy!

Go Bruins!
Bona is so fast on defense in this game… especially at the top of the key. He moves really well with his feet for a big man

Previously his feet were under his feet.

I'd love to see the Bruins run over some wildcats and flatten them like road kill. Kentucky Wildcats and Arizona Wildcats.
Excellent write-up, Dimitri!

Kick Kentucky's ass, yo!
Right on War Planner!

Drunk?
Noooooo ...... but nice try. They do deserve our effusive praise. Anyone who watched the Maryland game would concur.

It was bee-you-tee-full. A full 40 minutes with no lapses when the team was up 30. It's called putting the boot on the neck and keeping it there!
Looks like Chip is going to reel in a top 20 recruiting class after all.
