This evening, the UCLA Bruins are back on the road to face a familiar foe, the Washington Huskies. It’s the first meeting between the teams since 2022 when they met on a Friday night at the Rose Bowl.
The Bruins have won 15 of the last 20 meetings between the schools, but Washington head coach Jedd Fisch has beaten his former team the last two times he’s faced them.
What’s the difference between those games and tonight’s? Well, Chip Kelly is no longer leading the Bruin program. So, if Fisch had Chip’s number, that won’t be a factor tonight.
Let’s look at the keys to tonight’s Game.
Keys to the Game
1. Run the Ball!
UCLA was finally able to run the ball last week and they did it against an Iowa team which was ranked 11th in the country against the run. So, the Bruins have finally shown that they can move the ball on the ground. Now, they need to do it again against much worse run defense.
2. Stop Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman personally accounts for a little more than 25% of the Husky offense. That means that the Bruins will have to contain him both on the ground and through the air. If UCLA cannot do this, it’s going to be tough to win tonight’s game.
3. Pressure Will Rogers
The Huskies throw the ball a little more than they run it. Husky QB Will Rogers is a very accurate quarterback. If he has time to throw the ball, he can be deadly. If UCLA is going to neutralize the Washington offense, they are going to need to put pressure on Rogers.

It’s crazy that UW has only one PI called bc they’re mugging our receiver on every play
Again we show lack of discipline
