This afternoon, the UCLA Bruins head to Lincoln, Nebraska for a game against the resurgent Cornhuskers.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been ten years since UCLA last played Nebraska in Lincoln, but it has.
The Huskers are a proud team which as struggled over the last ten years. Head coach Matt Rhule is the team’s third head coach since the teams last met in the 2015 Foster Farms Bowl. But in just his second year with the program, they’ve matched last year’s win total after just eight games and they need a win to become bowl eligible.

Keys to the Game
1. Establish the Short Pass
UCLA still cannot run the football, but they’ve had some moderate success using short passes in lieu of the run. They will need to do that again today against a Nebraska team which is one of the best in the country against the run.
2. Keep the Nebraska Offense Out of the End Zone
Nebraska can score if they get things going, but they’ve done a lot less of it over their last three games. UCLA needs to extend that trend if the Bruins are going to have any kind of chance today.
3. Bowl Eligibility
Bowl games? I’m talking about bowl games? Well, yeah. Nebraska is looking to become bowl eligible for the first time under Rhule with a win today. A UCLA win today would keep the Bruins slim bowl chances alive while a loss still won’t shut the door, but it would mean that UCLA could not go bowling if they lose again after today.
